Assignment 1 GROUP PRESENTATION

Each group will be responsible for writing and presenting a paper entitled Through the
looking glass of an MNC and its culture. The paper should demonstrate students
knowledge and understanding of the module. This is an important component of your final
grade (40%). An individual 500 word symposium will be 20% and an oral presentation also
worth 20%.
All group members must make an equal contribution to the presentation.
GUIDELINES FOR GROUP PROJECTS
As well as your teamwork and presentation skills, it should be based on thorough research
of various sources including library resources, electronic databases, corporate websites,
annual reports, etc.
The project includes analysis of the environment of the MNC which you chose to study.
Discuss briefly the organisation (organisational form, organizational structure, and so on.
etc.); and then focus on culture. Make sure you present the deeper levels of culture. Focus
on the organisational culture, communication, philosophy and composition of the top
management team, do they adopt an ethnocentric vs. geocentric approach. You will also
need to discuss the possible organisational challenges and problems that you anticipate in
the MNC and the strategies that you would use to meet these challenges.

The presentation portion of the grade will be the same for all members of the group. Each
group will have about 15 minutes to present their project and 5 minutes for questions and
discussion. Every group member should have a chance to present. You should dress and
present professionally using PowerPoint presentations.

Task One
You are required to produce a power point presentation of your findings. The presentation
must not exceed 15 minutes. Groups must not exceed more than six students. You must
provide a copy of the slides you use during the presentation and you must ensure that all
students contribute to the presentation.
Task Two
Each student needs to produce a script of 500 words (+/- 10%). On one or more key themes
of the module: culture, globalisation, multinational corporations, international human
resource management
