1. FORMAL CORRESPONDENCE – Individual- 30%

Students are presented with a practical real-world communication


scenario that involves professional correspondence. They are required
to write two distinct pieces of formal correspondence based on the
provided scenario.

The tasks include:


1. Memo to Internal Stakeholders (employees and management):

2. Letter to Potential Clients or Customers:


● Sales Letter: Compose a persuasive letter aimed at promoting a
service, product, or opportunity. OR
● Adjustment Letter: Craft a response to address a customer/client
concern or inquiry, providing suitable solutions or assistance. OR
● Inquiry Letter: Develop a comprehensive letter that asks for
information about a product, service, or procedure.

The scenarios are shared to the students on the second day of Week 4.
Students should follow academic integrity when writing the
correspondence. If the students receive more than 20% for Turnitin/AI
Detector, 0 (zero) mark will be awarded.

2. FORMAL MEETING – Group (6 students in a group) - 30%

Preparation time: 10 minutes


Execution time: 30 minutes

In a group of 6 members, the group is presented with a complex problem


scenario. The group conducts a formal problem-solving meeting to
discuss the scenario, share ideas, and collectively agree on a solution.
The meeting should include active participation from all group
members. The chairperson introduces the scenario, manages turn-
taking, and ensures adherence to meeting procedures. Participants will
use language functions, such as expressing opinions, suggesting
solutions, seeking clarification, and making suggestions. The meeting
aims to reach a consensus on the most viable solution to the problem.

The formal meeting is conducted by video conferencing platform


=Webex.
3. PITCHING – Group (6 students in a group) - 40%

Presentation: 10-15 minutes


Q&A: 5 minutes

In a group of 6 members, the group is required to collaboratively write a


persuasive pitch for the solution agreed upon during the problem-solving
meeting. The written pitch (maximum 1500 words) should be concise,
persuasive, and tailored to the intended audience.

Each group prepares visual aids (e.g., PowerPoint slides, charts, graphs)
to support their extended oral presentation. The group presents their
pitches, visual aids, and engages in a Q&A session with the class.

Presenters should focus on delivering the pitch clearly, persuasively, and


engagingly. During the Q&A session, they should respond to questions
from the audience.

The submission deadline for the pitch writing assignment is scheduled for
Week 11. The pitch presentation must be conducted in class.
