Comparative Article: Regarding Group with Theme Islamic Education (BAQI)

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.

The first thing that we concern is about the crucial, or urgencies of learning to read the Holy
Quran correctly. This topic is very good and relevant to our daily life when there are so many people in
Indonesia, let say, in our University, there are so many people who cannot read the Holy Quran
correctly. This is of course a shame of ourselves, because the Holy Quran is the most fundamental
Guidance for us as a moslems, let’s look at the verse of the Quran:

‫ني‬ ِ ‫َذلِك الْ ِكتاب الَ ريب فِ ِيه هدى لِّْلمت‬

‫َّق‬
َ ُ ًُ َ َْ ُ َ َ
“This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah.”1
(2:2)

Of course it is a great shame for us who follow the Holy Quran as Guidance without the ability to
even read it. Because the Quran is explicitly order us to make this Holy Quran to be our Guidance, if we
fear Allah just like what is stated in the verse above. But the reality is so much worse that our capability
to read it is bad, so that we couldn’t understand the Holy Quran well. As people who doesn’t speak
Arabic, good capability to recite the Quran is very good, but as we see and feel by ourselves, we cannot
understand the meaning of the Quran by only reciting the verse of the Quran. Arab people can recite them
well, of course, but they also understand what they recite, different with us that only know how to recite
but very low even no capability at all to understand it without the translation. Let’s look at this one
hadith:

“Sebaik-baik kalian adalah yang mempelajari al-Qur’an dan mengajarkannya.”2

It is not as simply learning how to recite the Holy Quran, but also its virtues, its greatness, its way to understand
and cope with the life that we’ve through. So hope that without the capability to recite the Quran well, we cannot
understand the Quran well, so what most important is to understand what we read, not only recite it with good
voice to hear, and implement it to our daily life, then preach it to people so every moslems can get the virtues.
Hope this short article can be a good comparative for the paper, that’s all from us, every mistake is from
us and every good and perfection is from Allah. Hope we all can get the righteous guidance and become the person
that Loved by Allah.
