Benefits of Reciting Quran

Ash hadu alla illaha illalahu wah-da-hu la shareekalahu, wa ashadu ana muhammadun
aabduhu wa rasooluh!

Amma baadu faoozo billahe minashaitan nir rajeem. Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem,

Respected Sadr Sahib and my dear friends,

Among all the holy books, we believe Holy Quran is the most recent and complete
compilation of verses from God. In the Holy Quran, Allah says:

“And We have sent down to thee the Book to explain everything, and a guidance, and a
mercy and glad tidings to those who submit to God.” Surah Al Nahl verse 90

In dictionaries, reciting means to repeat with voice. So when I sat down to write a
speech on “Benefits of reciting Quran” I opened the most knowledgeable book. That is
the Quran itself! Aaaaand I hit the jackpot!

Reciting and pondering over the Book of Allah, devoting your time regularly to its study
and implementation has tremendous benefits in this life and the Next, so let us now look
to just a few of them to attach ourselves to Allah’s Majestic Words. However I would
only be able to mention a few in these couple of minutes.

Reciting or repeating it out loud, benefits mankind in understanding the multiple and
complex meanings of verses. Arabic language has a wide comprehension that makes it
possible for words to have different meanings. It has a laconic style to express many
meanings with few words, has an aesthetic art that reflect figurative and lexical
meanings, logic and concepts, open and hidden meanings. Repeating verses helps one
to understand the in depth meanings of verses.

Reciting Holy Quran benefits mankind with the never ending depth of knowledge. This
not only covers the events of past but also real truth of present and prophecies of future!
For example Holy Quran tells us about the creation of mankind when there were no
advanced scientific methods to know any information about it. However now, science
proves that every word of Holy Quran is true!
Reciting Holy Quran guides us in choosing the right path and living our lives in
guidance. It also makes one the best of the people. Prophet Mohammed (peace be
upon him) said:

“The best of you are the ones who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others” [Al-Bukhari]

It also provides healing to believers. In chapter 17 verse 83 Allah says “And We are
gradually revealing of the Quran that which is healing and a mercy to the believer.”

Promised Messiah Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (r.a) says in his book Aina-I-Kamalaat
e Islam Volume 5 page 545, “I incline towards it with great inclination and drink it into
my heart. Myself is lost in its beauty. It has been disclosed to me in a vision that garden
of holiness is irrigated through the water of the Quran, which is a surging ocean of the
water of life. He who drinks from it comes to life.”

I would like to end my speech with a question. Our life in this world is a test. We are
now sitting in an exam room and its open book! Now will you keep this book closed or
open it with full attention? May Allah help us in benefiting from Holy Quran. Ameen

Jazakallah
