You, on behalf of your campus, are going to joint an National Polytechnic English
Debate Competition. You are not sure  yet either will be grouped in Affirmative or Negative
Team.  So, you need to prepare argument for both, as Affirmative and as Negative Team. Here
are the motions:
1. The Teaching and Learning Process will be carried out off line, in campus in January 2022.
2. Tuition fee will be increased to help the government solves financial problem as the effect
of Covid 19 Pandemic.
3. Illegal logging should not be blamed to responsible for the flood happened in Indonesia.

Instructions:
Write argument about the positive aspects (strength or advantages) and negative aspects
(weaknesses or disadvantages) related to the above motions. Start with your agreement or
your disagreement to the motions. Then give strong reasons to your position.
ANSWER
1) Motion : The Teaching and Learning Process will be carried out off line, in campus in
January 2022
a) Affirmative Team
I agree with the motion. because of the current amount of data on the
spread of Covid, we are already listed as a safe country, and able to carry out
offline lectures but must continue to carry out health protocols. I think there are
many students or students who miss the offline school atmosphere. Many have
 been waiting for an offline school to be held. Considering the decline in Covid
in Indonesia, I agree that offline schools will be conducted in January 2021.
Because I believe we will get a lot when we are offline, starting from
organizational knowledge, starting from getting to know the campus
environment, making friends in lectures, getting to know lecturers, and many
more good things we can do when we are offline that we may be reluctant to do
when we are online.

b) Negatif Team.
I do not agree that offline schooling will be conducted in January 2021.
Because there are many things that we must consider to take this step. noble
than the possibility of an increase in the number of people affected by Covid or
other things that we don't want. Of course we do not want a significant increase
again. I think online learning is also not a bad thing. there are many advantages.
Starting from the cost, then a new atmosphere, as well as many interesting
challenges. Maybe we can go offline but not in January 2021. We have to wait
for the right and good time to decide that. Because I believe, There is no reason
not to be productive online. Because success must be pursued and we can
achieve if we are able to face all the obstacles that exist.

2) Motion : Tuition fee will be increased to help the government solves financial problem
as the effect of Covid 19 Pandemic.
a) Affirmative Team
I agree with the motion. We know that the economic situation in Indonesia
is not very good due to the impact of covid. We should, as the nation's colors,
help each other in neutralizing state finances in Indonesia. we will get a lot of
good when we are able to help our country. 1. If state finances are good, other
aspects will also be good.2. If we help then we are the color of a very good
country. And there are many other good things that we can get when our country's
finances are good.
 b) Negatif Team.
I do not agree with the motion. The government should look at the
condition of every student. Not all can afford to pay for college, especially if it is
raised. It's really sad if students drop out of college because of the availability of
funds. There are many other factors that can help the economy in Indonesia
without interfering with student tuition fees. Because I think the students are also
burdened with other things besides tuition fees. Like the cost of living. So I don't
think it's necessary to increase tuition fees.

3) Motion : Illegal logging should not be blamed to responsible for the flood happened in
Indonesia.
a) Affirmative Team:
I agree with the motion. Because flooding occurs not only because of
felling trees, felling trees is one of the causes. but not the main factor. many other
factors such as thedirty flow of the river,. high rainfall. and other things. so I don't
think illegal logging is to blame. Logging by replanting can also cause flooding,
so illegal logging cannot be blamed. Because many things are interrelated.

b) Negatif Team
I do not agree with the motion. Illegal logging is to blame. besides other
causes, illegal logging is the biggest cause. when the rainfall is high and there are
still trees to eat there may not be a flood, but when the rainfall is high and there
are no trees caused by illegal logging it will increase the impact of flooding.
Cutting down without replanting trees is an act that violates the law, legally it can
be blamed, meaning that it is clear that illegal logging is wrong.
