unable to achieve the required working life to meet their

product was only lasting 7 weeks before requiring removal.
In addition, down time was further increased by having to
complete repairs to the exposed parent metal when the
liner wore through. The port facility contacted H-E Parts
asking if we could supply a solution to meet the customers’
expectations in terms of both working life and performance.
H-E Parts technical specialists conducted a detailed wear
analysis of the application and recommended improving
the material selection, by replacing the existing competitor
ceramic liner with H-E Parts CME™ CME-82C complex ceramic
liners. The CME-82C material offers a higher abrasion index
and impact resistance over traditional wear plate options,
but more importantly its hardness and fracture toughness
are 32% and 38% higher.
The client approved the recommended H-E Parts product
trial, and the result was an immediate improvement. H-E
Parts CME™ CME-82C ceramic liners were inspected after 6
weeks and found to have only worn 25%. Thus, the customer
desired 14-week maintenance regime will be easily achieved,
whilst also providing a forecast life improvement in excess of
100%. The chute is now protected from damage and will no
longer require costly repairs during shutdowns. Additionally,
a significant reduction in the exposure to health and safety CME™ CME-82C ceramic liner installed in ore transfer chute
risks were also realized by the client through the reduced
frequency of repairs.
