Bacteria causes a build up of plaque.

The Mouth
• Ingestion: Food taken into
mouth
• Digestion: Food broken down
by teeth into smaller pieces.
• This begins the digestion.
• Then swallow, and the journey

The Oesophagus
• Function: to take food from mouth to
stomach by muscular action
• Heartburn is when acid from the stomach
gets in here.
