A semielliptical one-way tunnel was recently covered with rocks and debris from a series

of landslides. After a few weeks, it is finally cleared and becomes passable again by vehicles.
The maximum height of the tunnel is 8ft and has a width of 12ft.

Objective: The student(s) will be able to know if a vehicle can pass through the tunnel without
damaging it.

Activity: Measure the height and width of a vehicle that you own (preferably a car). Take a
photo of the vehicle of its rear side and indicate the measurements (in ft). Include the details
about the vehicle: brand and year model.

Procedure: Provide computations to support your claim. Use concepts of ellipse (standard
equation, axis, center, foci, etc.), whichever is applicable, and Cartesian plane in your analysis.
