Performance Task on Arithmetic Sequences

Problem/Situation:
Ms. Terenmis has asked your company to design a seating plan for a new arena MiraCor Arena. Currently, he
has the initial design of the arena like the one below. Mr. Reyes wants the number of seats in the arena to be
between 2,000 to 2,500. One ring of seats all the way round is considered a row, and row 1 is considered the
row closest to the center which needs 150 seats. He wants the number of seats in each row to be increasing by
the same number (for example 4, in the subsequent row).
Layout:
Your task: (answer the following by showing your complete solution in at least one slide)
1. How many rows are needed to fulfill the number of seats for the arena?
2. Write the explicit formula for the number of seats in each row.
3. How many seats are going to be in each row?
4. Figure out the total number of seats that are going to be in the arena.
5. Write the formula for the total number of seats in the arena?

Performance Task Write-Up

Please keep these points in mind when completing your write-up for the performance task.
1. Problem Statement – State the problem in your own words. Your problem statement should be clear
enough that someone unfamiliar with the problem could understand what it is you are being asked to do.
2. Process and Solution (Your Task) – Describe/ Illustrate the steps you took in attempting to solve the
problem. State your solution as clearly as possible. Explain why you think your solution is correct and
complete.
3. Member’s Evaluation – Compile the member’s answer to each question by discussing their personal
reaction to this problem:
a. Did you consider the problem educationally worthwhile?
b. What did you learn from it?
c. What are the challenges you have encountered in doing the performance task?

Performance Guidelines:
1. The expected output should be a printed Word document for the Problem statement, Process and
solution, and Evaluation in a short bond paper. Layout should be in an A3 size paper preferably, the
layout should be drawn with color. A 1-inch margin on all sides is required.
2. Write the Full Name of each member of the group and Grade & Section in both documents (First
Name/s, Middle Initial, Surname) including the title “MiraCor Arena Layout Proposal by [Name of
your Company]”
3. Submission of Performance Task Output
a. A week before the 1st Quarterly Summative Test.
