Leaning Goals:
This assignment should help the students:
1. Understand the difference between gross and net pay
2. Identify taxes and deductions taken from gross pay
3. read and understand a pay stub
Directions:
 You will be given 5 empty pay cheques and you are asked to create 5 different scenarios (one for each pay
cheque). These scenarios can be about your classmates, friends and/or siblings. BE CREATIVE.
 The five scenarios must have the following:
1. The hourly rate
2. The number of hours worked/either weekly of bi-weekly
3. At least 3 different deductions. The deductions can be any of these: EI, CPP, insurance tax, union duties,
other union duties, health coverage, dental coverage, eye examination coverage.
 All pay stubs must be bi-weekly
 You must show all your calculations, such as when calculating the gross pay, the total deductions, and the net pay.
