** It is your responsibility to check the expiration of your sojourn status and your documents.
Please note that ISSS merely submits your documents to the immigration office on your behalf for ‘Extension of Stay’ if
submitted during the designated period **
** Following the full implementation of the reservation system at the Daejeon Immigration Office, please make
reservation through HiKorea website before visiting the immigration office **
** Unless you are planning to revisit the immigration office to pick up your residence card, you can have your residence
card delivered to your place by paying some fee **
Resident Registration (D-2) – Issuance of Residence Card
 Fee: 30,000 won in cash
 Application Form (Report Form)* - 1 Passport photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) must be pasted on the application form
 Copy of passport (ID & visa page) and Passport
 Certificate of Enrollment (재학증명서) (can be printed from the automated machine at E11, 1st floor)
 Proof of Residency
- If you live in a KAIST dormitory, print out the “Certificate of Residence” from the KDS website (nkds.kaist.ac.kr). If you
live off campus (a place that is not a KAIST accommodation), submit a copy of the house contract.
 TB Test Result* (Students from 35 countries** only) ※If you've ever submitted the TB test result to Korean
Embassy/Consulate or Immigration Office before, you don’t need to submit it again.
- **35 countries: China, Sri Lanka, Russia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Mongolia, Pakistan, Indonesia,
Bangladesh, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, East Timor, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan,
Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Republic of Moldova, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of
Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Angola, Peru, and Papua New Guinea.

medical institutions designated by the Ministry of Justice.

Extension of Stay (D-2)


You can apply for the extension of stay after your transcript for the recent semester has been finalized.
If you want to ask ISSS to submit the documents on your behalf, hand in the documents to ISSS during the group submission period
(usually in January and July, TBA).
 Residence Card(=ARC)
 Application Form (Report Form)*
 Copy of passport (ID page) and Passport (if visiting individually)
 Fee: 60,000 won in Revenue Stamps (available at the Woori Bank in W2) ※ Not required if you are applying
online, please pay the discounted fee on the HiKorea website.
 Certificate of Enrollment (재학증명서) (can be printed from the automated machine in E11, 1st floor)
 Transcript (성적증명서)
 Proof of Residency

[Important] After you extend your period of stay, please contact National Health Insurance Service (033-811-2000) to
confirm whether your information regarding Residence Card has been updated. If the information is not updated, the
automatic payment may be terminated.
※If you are enrolling for longer than the normal academic period, please prepare the following as well:
 Undergraduate (9th sem +)
◼ Statement of Reason and Confirmation on Academic Plan*
- Receive a signature from your advising professor first before visiting ISSS for a signature.
◼ Certificate of Balance
- The document should prove that you have at least 790,000 KRW per month to cover your expenses during your
stay.
 Graduate (9th PhD or 5th MA sem +)
◼ Confirmation on Thesis Schedule*
- Receive a signature from your advising professor first before visiting ISSS for a signature.
Re-issuance of Residence Card
Reporting the loss of Residence Card and application for re-issuance must be completed within 14 days from
the date of occurrence.
 Copy of Passport (ID page) and Passport
 Application Form (Report form)*
- 1 passport photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) pasted on the application form
 Report of Loss Form (분실신고서)*
 Fee: 30,000 won in cash

Part-time Work Permission (D-2)


If you wish to work off campus as a part-timer, you need to get permission from the Immigration Office before you start
working. If you work without permission, you will have to pay the penalty fee.

 Recommendation for Part-time Work of Foreign Student*
 Transcript (GPA 2.3 or above) (can be printed from the automated machine at E11, 1st floor)

Job Seeking Sojourn Status (D-10)


 Copy of Passport (ID page), Passport
 Residence Card(=ARC)
 Application Form (Report Form)*
 Plan for Seeking Employment*
 Diploma
 Transcript (GPA 3.0 or above) (can be printed from the automated machine at E11, 1st floor)
 Fee: 130,000 won (100,000 won in revenue stamps pasted on the application form + 30,000 won in cash)
 Proof of Residency*
 TB test result* (Students from 35 countries** only) ※If you’ve already submitted the TB test result to Korean
Embassy/Consulate or Immigration Office before, you don’t need to submit it again.

Reporting Changes in Registration Information


If you do not report changes in registration information within 14 days of the change, you will be considered to be in
breach of Article 35 of the Immigration Act and will be fined accordingly.
 Changes that must reported:
 Name, sex, date of birth, nationality
 Passport number, date of issuance or expiration date
 Address of residence in Korea
 Change of university, workplace, or details of the organization you are part of (including name changes)
 How to report changes in registration information:
* Certain changes can be reported online so please check HiKorea website for more information.
You can report to the local immigration office with the following documents in person. [Note: If you just need
to report a change in address, you can report to the Yuseong District Office (near KAIST) with your Residence
Card & a copy of your house contract. Other changes must be reported to the immigration office.]
