 Cariboo or 3 Strikes
Needed: 2 sets of 15 picture cards. Cranium Cariboo Game (not
included) or 3 Strikes board
How to play: Place 1 set in Cranium Cariboo game or on the 3
Strikes board provided. Use the remaining set as a deck of cards
to draw from. Have the child pick a card and produce the
target word. Cariboo – if they are correct they can open the
square. If not, the card goes to the bottom of the stack. When
they find all 6 balls and open the treasure they win. 3 Strikes – if
they are correct they can take the square. If not, they get a
strike (x game piece). Collect as many cards as you can before
you get 3 Strikes.
Bingo/Blackout
Needed: 1 set of 15 picture cards, 3 x 3 square cards. 36
star bingo markers.
How to play: Bingo - Pass out 3 x 3 square cards. Take turns
picking a card from the square cards deck and saying the
word on the card. Everyone who has the picture covers the
square on their card with a star marker. The first one to get
3 in a row wins. Blackout – play as stated above except
game ends when player covers all 9 squares.
Memory
Needed: 2 sets of 15 picture cards.
How to play: Select 4-15 pairs of cards. Place the pictures in
rows and columns face down. Take turns turning over 2
picture cards. Practice saying each word. If the pictures
are a match the player takes the cards and may go again.
If they are not a match the cards are turned back to face
down. Game ends when all cards are matched. Whoever
has the most cards wins.
Go Fish
Needed: 2 sets of 15 picture cards.
How to play: Shuffle 2 decks of cards. Dealer passes out 4 cards to
each player and places the remaining cards face down in a stack.
Players look at their cards and any matching pairs are set down face
up. The player to the right of the dealer asks any other player for a
card, “Do you have a boat?”. If that player has the card they hand it
to the player who was asking and they set down the pair. That player
may go again. If the other player does not have the card then he/she
responds “go fish” and the person asking takes a card from the deck.
Continue taking turns clockwise until a player matches all their cards.

Spot it
Needed: 1 set of 4 picture cards.
How to play: Stack cards face down. Turn over top two
cards. Players try to find the two pictures that are the same
on both cards. The player who finds the match first gets a
point. Practice saying the word of the matching pictures.
Remove the card on the left and turn over another card.
Continue until all 13 cards have been played. Player with
the most points at the end wins.
Sprint
Needed: Sprint board, coordinating cards from 15 picture card
set (2-4 pieces), extra cards optional, X/O marker for game
piece.
How to play: Each player chooses a Sprint card and places
matching picture cards face down on the table (extra cards
can be added to make the game more difficult). Players take
turns picking up a card. If it is the next square on their board they
move forward, if not they stay where they are. Mix up the cards
after each turn. The first one to the end wins.
Alternate: Use 1 and 2 game markers to move.
