Learning Activity (ies)

Based on your Research Title, kindly write the Introduction with Background of the
Study (includes rationale with citations, and Objectives of the Study.

Paragraph 1: RATIONALE WITH CITATIONS

Discrimination in education ranges from gender to race, age, social class, financial
status. The paper describes observation of the school building layout and
corresponding activities and behaviors in language education classes. It is the learners'
right to get an education free from discrimination.

Paragraph 2: INTERNATIONAL STUDIES THAT SUPPORT YOUR STUDY WITH CITATIONS

The human right to education is a fundamental, but limited, right under international
human rights law. While multiple treaties address the right to education, the
International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Convention on
the rights of the child explicitly outline States' obligations to fully realize the right to
education. The core component of the right requires States to provide free
compulsory primary education, and prohibits discrimination in Schooling.

Paragraph 3: NATIONAL STUDIES THAT SUPPORT YOUR STUDY WITH CITATIONS

The Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission) welcomes the
development of a national school curriculum ( the Curriculum). We believe that the
development of the Curriculum is a unique opportunity to ensure all young
Australians develop an understanding and appreciation for human rights. This
document outlines the Commissions position on why human rights education is an
important component of the Curriculum and our suggestions for how human rights
education can be further strengthened in the Curriculum.
Paragraph 4: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
When children and young people are treated unfairly and discriminated against
because of who they are, this can have a detrimental effect on their mental health,
their self-esteem, and their educational performance. It is important that schools and
settings understand who might be at risk of discrimination, what they should do to
minimize discrimination, and how they can buffer and support children and families
who may be at risk of being discriminated against.

Paragraph 5: SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

As a researcher, this study is a human rights violation which can have a damaging
effect on all learners, especially those who are targeted. Discrimination can occur in
almost any aspect of school life, from the attitudes and expectations of teachers to
school rules and codes of conduct, selection and grouping practices, curricula, teaching
methods and materials, changing facilities, career guidance, canteen food and the
physical school environment. The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in
this Convention shall be secured without discrimination on any ground such as sex,
race, color, language, religion, political or other opinion, association with a nayional
monitory, property, birth or other status.
