Supplies, Materials, Tools and Equipment

In order to perform the hair bleaching activity successfully it is necessary to be

familiar with the supplies, material, tools and equipment to be use. Proper usage of
the things needed in hair bleaching will help the hairdresser to lessen the time of
process and high percentage success of the outcome.

The following are things needed in hair bleaching activity:

Applicator bottle - made of plastic, usually use for liquid mixture.
Brush - it is soft to medium bristles, use for applying color /mixture to the hair
Long tail comb - use for proper sectioning.

Tinting bowl - made of plastic use for mixing the chemicals for the hair.
Ear cap- to protect the ear from harmful ingredients of the hair bleaching mixture.
Plastic hair clip - use for hair sectioning.
Barrier cream – to protect the skin around the hair line.
Protective gloves-hand protection of the hairdresser while doing the activity.
Cape – client protection from stain.
Color chart – visual representation of the hair color with corresponding shades.
Bleaching cream/powder -lightening agent usually mix with the different
percentage of developer.
2 kinds of bleachers
1. Oil, gel, or creams lighteners -this are the lightest form of lightening. Mix with
20 %or 30% (6 or 9 %) developer gives the process slow acting with medium
textured hair and acts quickly with fine hair textured.
Uses include the following:
Serve as lightening before the fashion color.
Mixed with hair color tint to increase color lift.
Used for lighten up the hair, up to four level.

2.Powder bleaches – this is use for higher degree of lightening that usually turns
the hair into red/yellow. mixed with 20%30%and 40% volume of developer.

Stages of hair lightening

Black /dark Brown
Brown
Red/red gold
Gold
Yellow
Pale yellow

Hydrogen peroxide – developing agents, mix together with the bleaching cream
/powder.
Percentages of developer
20% and 30 % or 6 % and 9% mix with oil, gel and cream lightener
20%,30% and 40% or 6%,9% or 12% mix with bleaching powder.
