Indian iron ore export shipments remain stable at around 4 mn t in

Indian iron ore export shipments were recorded at 3.97 mn t in
Feb’21, largely stable as compared to 3.98 mn t in Jan’21, according
to vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint. During early Jan,
Chinese participants remained
active in restocking material ahead of the Golden week holidays.
However, towards the second half of Jan trades slowed down.

SteelMint billet index drops by INR 200/t on limited trades - 6 Mar

Rationale:

SteelMint daily billet index has been assessed at INR 38,300/t (-200) exw Raipur on 6th Mar’21, 16:00 IST.

A total of about 1,000 t billet trades were recorded today, as against 7,420 t yesterday (i.e. 5th Mar).

● This index has been derived based on transactions, offers, bids and indicative price data sets. Transactions are considered as T1 and
given a weightage of 50% whereas other data sets are considered as T2 and given a weightage of the balance 50%.
● Transactions (T1) – Four trades were recorded in the 11:30 am to 3.30 pm SteelMint trading window and considered for final price
calculation as T1 inputs. Out of which, two trades were recorded at INR 38,300/t, one at INR 38,400/t & one deal at INR 38,550/t. The
average price of these four transactions was INR 38,329/t and given a 50% weightage in the final price calculation.
● Other Price Indicators – bids/offers/indicative (T2) – Ten offers reported in the trading window and considered as T2 inputs. The
average price of these ten was INR 38,300/t and given a 50% weightage in the final price calculation.

The final price for billet exw Raipur was at INR 38,314/t, rounded to INR 38,300/t exw.

Tathya's Pig Iron (Hot Metal) Index represents the variation in production of Hot Metal (Pig Iron) on a weekly basis at different steel mills. This is a near real-
time indicator of production trends in steel mills which is derived by using advanced Machine Learning leveraging the heat signals captured in the infrared
bands of satellite images. The base value of the index is considered as 100 and subsequent values represent change from the base value which gives an
indication of production trend.
