Computer Systems Servicing-Quarter 2 - Module 2

This document contains the work of a student named France TJ B. Ogabang for their Grade 12 Computer Systems Servicing class. It includes the results of several multiple choice and activity questions covering topics about computer hardware, components, and the BIOS system. The student demonstrated knowledge of input/output devices, the roles of the motherboard and power supply, and provided analogies comparing computer components to a family. They also explained safety procedures and the importance of using the proper tools for computer repairs and maintenance.

Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 3
An input device is something you connect to a computer that sends information into the
computer. An output device is something you connect to a computer that has information sent
to it.
Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 4
[Link] unit is to hold all the other components together and protect the sensitive electronic
parts from the outside elements. A typical computer case is also large enough to allow for
upgrades, such as adding a second hard drive or a higher-quality video card.

[Link] supply is to convert electric current from a source to the correct voltage, current, and
frequency to power the load. As a result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric
power converters.

[Link] drive in a computer system allows you to use CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs to
listen to music or watch a movie.
[Link] motherboard is the body or mainframe of the computer, through which all other
components interface. It is the central circuit board making up a complex electronic system.
A motherboard provides the electrical connections by which the other components of the
system communicate. The mother board includes many components such as: central
processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), firmware, and internal and external
buses.

[Link] memory is any physical device capable of storing information temporarily, like
RAM (random access memory), or permanently, like ROM (read-only memory). Memory
devices utilize integrated circuits and are used by operating systems, software, and hardware.
Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 5
An analogy of computer could be a tight-knit family. Motherboard = Mother board - The
mother “controls” all members of the family (all components of the computer).. CPU (Central
Processing Unit) = The mothers brain (in a matriarchal family) (o; The fathers brain in a
patriarch family..

Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 6

It is important to learn the different tools, equipments, utensils and their uses to make the
process easier and more efficient. Time, money and effort will be saved if you know its
functions. You can have a best product and you can able to process a food in its best quality.
Quarter 2- Module 1-Wat I Have Learned
I learned on this topic or lesson that:

1. Before you start assembling you should always wear gloves to prevent
damage by static electricity.
2. Know your parts, means you must have basic knowledge on what each
component or hardware does.
3. Always secure the connections, you HAVE TO MAKE SURE that every
connection is connected properly and does not have any lose ends or
exposed wires.
Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 7
1. Yes. It is important and necessary for technicians to know different procedures in using
tools for computer system configuration, and here are the reasons why:

 To minimize the harm and damage in your system. Using the right tool and right
procedure for repairs, can minimize the damage that is happening in your system, in
both hardware and software.
 To minimize or prevent the harm that could happen to you. Safety is always the first
and most important thing to you as the technician. Always do the right procedure and
use the right tools.
 Accidents can be prevented.
 Unsure activities in repairs can sometimes lead to permanent damage like permanent
deleting of files. These cannot be undo and extremely dangerous.
2. Each tool is precisely designed for a specific purpose, so choosing the
correct tool will also decrease the amount of effort required to get a job
done right without causing damage to either the equipment or the surface
being worked on.
Quarter 2- Module 1-Activity 8
1.
 Access the BIOS Setup utility. See Accessing BIOS.
 Press the F9 key to automatically load the factory default settings. ...
 Confirm the changes by highlighting OK, then press Enter. ...
 To save the changes and exit the BIOS Setup utility, press the F10 key.
2. In order to access BIOS on a Windows PC, you must press your BIOS key set by your
manufacturer which could be F10, F2, F12, F1, or DEL. If your PC goes through its power on
self-test startup too quickly, you can also enter BIOS.
3. Resetting your BIOS restores it to the last saved configuration, so the procedure can also
be used to revert your system after making other changes.
4. BIOS (basic input/output system) is the program a computer's microprocessor uses to start
the computer system after it is powered on. It also manages data flow between the computer's
operating system (OS) and attached devices, such as the hard disk, video adapter, keyboard,
mouse and printer.
5. However, since the BIOS is a pre-boot environment, you can't access it directly from
within Windows. On some older computers (or those deliberately set to boot slowly), you can
hit a function key such as F1 or F2 at power-on to enter the BIOS.
