SECTION 5
METHODOLOGY
A. Noise Source (Machine) Measurement
a. Initial calibration of Noise Sound Level Meter (SLM).
b. During measurement, SLM was set at A weighting and slow response mode.
d. The microphone of the SLM was pointed towards the noise source at distance of
about one (1) meter away and at height of about one (1) meter.
e. Types of noise exposure are determined based on the differences between maximum
and minimum value of 3dB (A). If the different is less than 3 dB(A), the noise
b. During measurement, SLM was set at A weighting and slow response mode.
c. Noise level of each noise source was first recorded. The SLM was then moved away
while pointing to the noise source. When the noise level reached of 90 dB(A) the
distance was identified, marked and measured using measuring tape. The location
then been marked on the factory floor plan. The area from the contour line of 90
c. During measurement, the Noise Dosimeter was set at A Weighting and slow response
mode.
e. Workers in the plant were classified into various job categories based on the
following criteria:
i. Similar exposure
f. High risk workers in the production area were selected to conduct the Personnel
Exposure Monitoring.
h. Noise Dosimeter was attached on the selected workers where the microphone was
i. After complete, the noise dosimeter will be detached from the workers and proceed
j. The noise data will be transferred to computer and results will be recorded on
relevant forms.
