Objective :
To find various algorithms for state of charge estimation of the battery
Brief Description :A short study is conducted by doing various simulations in
order to find out the best method for state of charge estimation.
The Battery health plays a very crucial role in an electric automobile. One of the major problems
in the Electric automobile is the non-accurate measurement of state of charge which generates
inaccurate details regarding the vehicle. In the E-auto that we are working on needs an accurate
state of charge estimation method so that the driver can accordingly drive the vehicle and the
battery life stays longer. Various methods to estimate State of charge of a battery is short-listed
which includes. The first algorithm is implemented that of the Columb counting. The MATLAB
Simulink model is created along with the battery chemistry of a Lithium Ion battery. The values
are measured along with the error percentage which determines the accuracy of the algorithm. In
second method we take the OCV vs SOC curve method where we determine the relationship
between open circuit voltage and state of charge of the battery using Peukart’s model, after
determining the state of charge we measure the accuracy of this case. The final Algorithm is the
mixed algorithm of both the upper cases where the Columb Counter is corrected with the help of
OCV curve. The accuracy of this case will also be determined. We shall also discuss some 2 more
methods during the course of the project. After analyzing the above three mentioned Methods we
will declare which method is the most suitable for determining SOC of the battery. Here are the
following steps in bullet points
1. Vehicle modelling
2. Battery modelling along with the parameters
3. Columb counting simulink modelling
4. Plotting, analysis and accuracy determination
5. OCV vs SOC relationship determination and simulink modelling
6. Plotting, analysis and accuracy determination
7. Mixed Algorithm modelling
8. Plotting, analysis and accuracy determination
9. Conclusion
