INCEPTION REPORT

Summary of the Background of the Study

Construction, which is booming, is one of the leading sources to carbon emissions, which
has a negative influence on the environment. And, as of 2019, the Philippines has begun mass-
importing Coffee Grounds due to the popularity and demand of coffee shops, causing an issue
with efficient waste management of Waste Coffee Grounds. The study's goal is to offer
alternative solutions for reducing carbon emissions and improving the country's environmental
situation. The goal of this research was to use waste coffee grounds produced by a local café
store to create environmentally friendly construction materials.

Objective of the Study

General Objective
The purpose of this study is to produce CBPB prototypes with the use of waste coffee
grounds as its particulate raw material.
Specific Objective
• Formulate appropriate mix designs for the CBPB;
• Produce a CBPB prototype with WCG as its raw particulate material;
• To determine the physical properties of the produced prototypes of CBPB using
WCG by obtaining the following:
o Density
o Water Absorption (WA)
o Thickness Swelling (TS)
• To determine the mechanical properties of the produced prototypes of CBPB
using WCG by obtaining the following:
o Modulus of Elasticity (MOE)
o Modulus of Rupture (MOR)
Report
As of now, the panelists have authorized the title with minor changes, particularly in the
study methods section. The panelist's major goal is to create an appropriate mix design that
adheres to the Cement Bonded Particle Board's standard specifications. For this reason, the
respondent is undergoing a trial phase in order to build an effective mix design in response to the
Panelist's and Adviser's inquiries and comments.
As a result, the response is running a little behind on the anticipated schedule in the Gannt chart
but hopes to have a prototype ready before the holidays.
