2. Orlando Vea
- Mr. Vea is one of the most successful digital entrepreneurs in the country. He cofounded
Smart in 1991 with Dave Fernando and was its President and CEO until 2000. During
that time, First Pacific purchased Smart. He led Smart from its inception as a startup to its
position as the industry's market leader in mobile telephony. He went on to start a number
of businesses, including CIGNAL, which is currently the top direct-to-home digital cable
channel. He then went on to lead the PLDT Group's media and content business as
President and CEO of MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the
PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund, where he was in charge of the Group's forays into Mobile
TV, Direct to Home TV, and other major mass media and new media platforms. In 2008,
he returned to Smart as the company's Chief Wireless Advisor. In January 2013, Mr. Vea
initiated the development of Voyager Innovations, PLDT and Smart's digital innovation
business, where he currently serves as President and CEO. The Voyager Group, which
includes Voyager Breakthroughs and its several spin-off enterprises such as
FINTQnologies, Takatack Technologies, and PayMaya Philippines, is paving the way for
digital innovations in emerging countries.
3. Joey Concepcion
- Joey is a self-assured entrepreneur. At the age of 28, he is already the Chief Executive
Officer of RFM Corporation, the Philippines' second largest food and beverage
conglomerate, with net sales of P10 billion in 2001. He purchased the Selecta and
Cosmos brands and took on Coke and Magnolia, two of the world's largest beverage
companies. With Pop Cola, he created Cosmos a market leader in 13 years. He views
business not only as a means of gaining money, but also as a means of demonstrating his
love for the country. He wants to help others, both established and aspiring entrepreneurs,
thus he formed the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship with eight other colleagues.
They want to help entrepreneurs by encouraging and mentoring them. They create a
campaign called "Go Negosyo" to fulfill their goal of making Filipinos positive rather
than pessimistic, with the hope of making the Philippines a country of billionaires.
4. Rachel De Villa
- Patch Dulay, sometimes known as Patrick "Patch," is a startup enabler. He is the founder
and CEO of The Spark Project, an online community and financing platform for socially
conscious businesses. As a lifelong learner and teacher, his passion for education and
entrepreneurship inspires him to serve entrepreneurs by providing them access to tools
that help accelerate their business ideas to reality. Patch graduated from Ateneo de
Manila University with a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems in 2005.
In 2010, he received his master’s degree in Global E-business from the University of
Lille in France. He also taught for two years at the Ateneo de Manila University's
Department of Information Systems and Computer Sciences. In 2020, he graduated from
the Ateneo Graduate School of Business with a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship -
Social Enterprise and Development. He is a member of the World Economic Forum's
Global Shapers Community and one of four Filipino delegates selected for the Economic
Empowerment cohort of the Young South East Asian Leaders Initiative Professional
Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) for Spring 2016. In 2016, he was named Industry
Mover of the Rappler Move Awards, and in 2018, he was the only South East Asian to
receive the US State Department Professional Fellowship Program Alumni Impact
Awards. Tatler Asia's #GenT list for 2019 includes him.
