For the adoption website for dogs I feel there could be a lot of work done for the website

that could better it but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily bad or insufficient. They give a solid base

of information in regards to adopting if you’re just simply looking to gather information. If it were

me, once I’ve made the decision I’m going to adopt the information presented is very useful and

they note if there are any other questions or concerns that they have multiple ways you’d be able to

reach them. As for choosing between different animals there is no doubt that decision is going to

come with some emotional hardships. I feel it’s simply impossible to not care or feel for any of the

other animals that you may not be taking home that day. Though the website does a fantastic job of

giving a small description of the character of the dog and all the things that are great about them. I

don’t believe one animal is more important than another in these shelters or in any household

really, and I do find the website alone to be compelling as these are just the sweetest fur babies

who’ve been abandoned or rescued looking for a home. If I were to add anything at all it would be

to be able to adopt nationwide. Not only that but maybe videos or pictures of these animals and

even how they interact with each other. Though the website notes how there is a very strict

household visit to determine whether or not you’re fit to take care of whatever animal you adopt. I

feel through a much longer adoption process and more patience and work from the website this

could change opening up much more homes for these beautiful babies. For the most important

question of this activity, I do not believe one is more important than the other, even if there isn’t as

much information in the description for one dog compared to another the way they describe them

and the pictures taken of them only make you want to try and take them all.

A very recent email I sent to my English professor actually regarding submitting a late

assignment I feel is a great example of this reflect activity. Me and my family were robbed over the

past weekend whilst out of town making life so annoying and unnecessarily stressful. I made sure

to stress the magnitude of the situation from my perspective at least, along with explaining my

determination for trying to complete the essay to 100% of its capability. The email however does

need revision grammatically. I also sent an email of the same subject toward a couple of other

professors explaining the situation again, stressing the fact that I want to and I’m trying my best to

submit this work on time to its full potential but with everything going on that couldn’t happen. So

again I feel I did do a good enough job stressing the situation and work of writing I’m trying to

submit.

He opens that way because his audience of mostly young students could heavily relate to

this. Not only that but older adults nowadays even know that funny kittens and cats are just a thing

on the internet and will always be. Though opening this way creates a small difference in argument

between cats and dogs and then further explains how dogs have been domesticated.

As an author, I don’t believe having social media or being active on them has any affect on

your writing, influence, or the way a book will sell. Jaron Lanier really doesn’t need social media,

and many people that are of relevance to him are the exact same way. Jaron Lanier is a very

accomplished man and has done this without social media, I feel his image and importance aren’t

overlooked because of his “influence” in areas of study he associates himself with. He already has

the influence he needs and doesn’t need social media to rant about things because he has the

influence he needs from the audiences he presents to already.

As I just wrote a whole essay on how the internet and social media could influence and

affect the development of someone it makes it very hard to create a counter argument as all the

information I gathered pointed toward the exact claim he made. Though there was still evidence

that social media and the internet in general could be a great tool for anyone of any age. This is

because of all the marketing opportunities all the possible ways social media could bring people to

a successful life. I’m going to make a claim here and say probably every single high school

prospect in highschool sports use social media to try and boost their influence and get their

highlights out there so the right people could see them. So with a single goal like this for social

media I believe it’s easy to stray away from the claim Lanier made.

Lanier’s stance on this topic is clearly defensive, or depending on the way you look at it

you could say it’s offensive as well. In that he’s attacking the ways social media and the internet

may not be of good use to us. Or defending how one doesn’t need social media. I would describe

his tone in an educatingly concerning way as he describes how we may be training ourselves like a

dog. Which again is his argument, stating how social media and the internet is slowly training us in

the wrong ways just like dogs.

I’m doing this assignment within a 24 hour period, however, about 2 months ago I did

disconnect from social media for a while. I think it was about 3-4 days, and I did this because of

stress and anxiety. Clearly everyone needs a phone so I can’t completely get rid of the internet for

3-4 days or even some form of social influence when I’m surfing the web doing homework. It was

still a great choice I made and needed to make. It allowed me to just completely focus on other

things, I’m not a big social media person to begin with and don’t really care about the social image

presented on them but taking a break from social media in general is amazing. I think it’s because

of all the fake things you see on social media and then you inevitably compare yourself to that

person.

An example I’d like to pick is the information and statistics presented about college

students drinking and alcohol rates. Just alone with all the information presented a very presentable

graph could be made to represent all of the information presented. I’m sure a lot of people would

be shocked to see those statistics in a graph, not only that but I’m sure that this could be done

singularly for certain colleges or certain college areas that have common accidents related to

alcohol and then try and form a solution from then.

A synthesis is gathering multiple sources and ideas, from these sources you will create your

own ideas based on the analysis of the sources read.

Summarizing something means highlighting all the keywords and important information of

a topic and simply moving onto summarizing another source, synthesis is combining information

from the sources you summarized and annotated and further adding your own ideas and context

based on that analysis of the sources.

Think of the sources you’re presenting and the authors that are presenting them. Think of

those authors conversing at a conference of your topic and think of the conversations that would

occur. Critically research the topic, and make just a little more than an hour of time a day to work

on this essay before the due dates.
