✞ Hymn - Angels from the Realms of Glory

Angels, from the realms of glory, Wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story Now proclaim Messiah’s birth:
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!

Shepherds, in the fields abiding, Watching o’er your flocks by night,

God with man is now residing, Yonder shines the infant Light:
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!

Sages, leave your contemplations, Brighter visions beam afar;

Seek the great Desire of nations; Ye have seen His natal star:
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!

Saints, before the altar bending, Watching long in hope and fear,
Suddenly the Lord, descending, In His temple shall appear:
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Lighting of the Advent Wreath
Leader: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things
were made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all
people. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has
not understood it. Light is the symbol of creation. In the
beginning, God said,

People: Let there be Light!

Leader: Light is the symbol of Christ’s coming to earth. Jesus

said,

People: I am the Light of the World!

Leader: Light is the symbol of God’s presence in us. Each

believer is told

People: Let your Light shine!

Unison and Silent Prayers of Preparation

Call to
Holy and loving God, we have dwelt in darkness and
preferred it to the light; we have been proud of our Confession:
accomplishments and despaired over our shortcomings. John 3:19-21
Smooth down the mountains of our pride, and lift up the
valleys of our doubts. Open a path in the wilderness of our
lives that we might find our way to you again. Refine us and
prepare us once again for life in your kingdom. Hear our
prayer, O Lord. Affirmation
