Welcome everybody to our group presentation. We are group 8 and today, we are going
P1 to give a demonstration on Unit 2: For a better community.
-It seems you guys don’t really know much about this topic.
->Our purpose today is expanding your knowledge on volunteer works and
organizations.
Before going deeper into our presentation, I would advise everyone to take some notes
P1 about the following information since it would be extremely helpful for our game in the
end with amazing prizes.

To get started, we are going to introduce some volunteer club that’s very familiar to us:
Viet Duc Volunteer Club
(VDVC)
-Based in Viet DucHighschool, it aims to help the less fortunate, spreading love to
everyone by carrying out meaningful volunteer programs.
- Some recent programs and projects that they’ve organized are:
• “TetTrungThu –Tetse chia ” which gave gifts to children and people in difficult
circumstances.
• “ Nhuong com se ao”, in this project, they shared love to people in difficult situations
during the Covid-19 pandemic
•“ Khi thanh pho khongngu ”, wanderers were supported and shared
•“ Mang nang ve dong”, a meaningful program for many difficult lives
After talking about organizations situated in our school, let’s move on to learning
about organizations all over the world. We have saved you the trouble by grouping
them into different categories, the first being children’s rights organizations
First on the list:
UNICEF
-UNICEF works in over 190 countries to save children’s lives, to defend their rights
and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
-What they do:
•They work with partners all around the world to promote policies and expand access to
services that protects all children.
•They also work around the world to support quality learning for every child and to
reduce child poverty, shielding them from its lifelong consequences.
•They empower girls and women, ensuring their full participation in political, social
and economic systems.
•Furthermore, UNICEF also delivers sustainable access to lifesaving supplies where
they are most needed and researches about the situation of children worldwide.
Secondly, one of the most popular organizations for children in Viet Nam is
•Ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens
•Achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the
United States
•Remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.
•Inform the public of the harmful effects of racial discrimination.
•Seek enactment and enforcement of federal, state and local laws securing civil rights.
•Educate everyone on their constitutional rights and take all lawful action to secure the
exercise of those rights.
-To achieve all of that, NAACP is taking action through many means such as:
•Providing policy to eliminate race-based discrimination in policing, courts and
imprisonment, and to improve health outcomes for people of color.
•Working to expand access and participation in markets for black workers, consumers,
and business owners as well as advancing policy and systems change to close the racial
wealth gap.
•Using the court system to fight efforts to disenfranchise black voters, hold public
officials accountable, and ensure civil rights.
Dream Defenders
-Dream Defenders is organizing Black and Brown youth to build power in our
communities to advance to a new vision, a vision of safety and security, with
healthcare, housing, jobs and movement for all.
-Some projects that they’ve done are:
•”Free the Block”, a campaign to end money bail and pre-trial detention which inspired
other campaigns for criminal justice and bail reform happening all over the country.
•”Blacked Out History Month”, an effort to highlight individuals moments, and
important facts throughout history classes but made a tremendous impact on the world
that we live in today.
•”GEO Group”, a project which targeted GEO Group, the largest prison corporation
that has given 8.7 million to politicians, gaining influence over Florida legislation.
Dream Defenders got the Florida Democratic Party to pass a resolution discouraging
candidates from taking private prison funding, and got 30 candidates to sign a pledge to
not take private prison funds.
•After introducing some helpful organizations, I think all of us can understand how
important they are for marginalized/underprivileged groups in particular and for the
community in general.
•But how does volunteer and charity work profits us?
-Through volunteer work, we can feel more connected to others, improveour social and
relationship skills are improved, and it’s a great way to make new friends.
P3 -It is also beneficial to our mental health, it helps counteract the effects of stress,
anxiety, anger and even symptoms of depression.
-Furthermore, volunteering brings fulfillment to our life, we all have our own interests
and passions that can be explored when doing volunteer work explore our own interests
and passions . Not only that, satisfaction also comes from the joy of knowing we’re
helping the community grow, helping to build an ideal society where everyone is

Today, we’ve had a chance to learn more about volunteer groups as well as some
charity organizations. Many of you who is studying in this classroom right now is
fortunate enough to be living a healthy normal life with the privilege of going to school
unlike some people out there. They need your help, so if you have the time, you could
volunteer in some organizations, donate money, food, clothes to handicapped people
and those with unfortunate life. Or simply, you could educate yourself more on these
issues and share to your family and friends what you’ve learned.
