1ST INTERNATIONAL ALFREDS FEILS COMPETITION

OF YOUNG SINGERS OF FOLK MUSIC

November 27, 2021, Daugavpils

The International Alfreds Feils competition of Young singers of Folk music is organized by
Daugavpils Secondary School No.13 in cooperation with Daugavpils City Culture Department, the
Educational Department of Daugavpils and the association “Mentors”. The purpose of the competition: to
contribute to the development of musical skills of young singers, as well as to honor the famous artist
Alfreds Feils who lived in Daugavpils. The competition will be held on November 27, 2021 and it is open
for participation to all young singers under the age of 23 years. The participants will compete using video
recordings.
The requirements of the competition
All participants are divided into the following categories:
A Category – singing in folk and academic manner;
B Category – singing in pop and jazz manner;

All participants perform a program consisting of 1-2 folk compositions in participant’s native language,
the performance time up to 4 minutes. The songs can be performed a cappella, with acoustic
accompaniment or with phonograms. In category A studio recordings are not allowed.

The competition is open to soloists and duets in the following age groups:
A1: girls under the age of 9 (inclusive);
A2: boys under 12;
A3: girls from 10 to 11 years old;
A4: girls from 12 to 14 years old;
A5: boys from 13 to 17 years old;
A6: girls from 15 to 17 years old;
A7: girls and boys from 18 to 23 years old;
A8: duets under 14;
A9: duets from 15 to 23 years old;
B1: children under 10;
B2: children from 11 to 13 years old;
B3: children from 14 to 16 years old;
B4: youth from 17 to 23 years old:
B5: duets under 14;
B6: duets from 15 to 23 years old.

The age of the participants is determined by November 27, 2021.

The jury evaluates the performance of the contestants using a 25-point scale.
Contestants are awarded according to the points received:
The Diploma for participation in the competition – up to 18 points;
The Diploma of the 3rd degree - from 18 to 19.99 points;
The Diploma of the 2nd degree - from 20 to 21.99 points;
The 1st degree diploma - from 22 to 25 points.
Each group winners receives the Diploma of the Winner and the Prize of the Winner of the
competition (Trophy). Participants also get special prizes.
Accreditation
The organizers of the competition have the right to audio and video recordings, as well as photography.
All of contest participants must send the following documents to the e-mail
latviancontests@inbox.lv before October 25, 2021:
 a short creative biography of the participant;
  a photo of the participant;
 an Application form of the participant;
 a copy of the payment for the participation in the competition.

Competition participants should send an Internet link (YouTube) of their recording to the
organizers till November 20, 2021. One cannot send recordings from other competitions, the recording
must be of good audio and video quality. The jury's decision is final and not appealable. Diplomas will be
sent by e-mail, and prizes for the winners – by the mail.
The participation fee: 20.- EUR, participation fee is non-refundable.
