PNR Station Hostage-taking
What: Shooting and Hostage-taking Incident
Where: PNR station Santa Mesa, Manila
When: December 17,2018
Who:
Suspect: DOMINADOR ABRILLO, Construction worker, resident of Taguig City
Responding Officer: PO1 CHRISTIAN JOHN CASTOR, bona fide member of Philippine National Police
Victim: JAIME “JOJO” DIOLATA, male, 56 years old

Why/Root Cause: The suspect DOMINADOR ABRILLO was having major issues over the death of his
OFW sibling from Saudi that came home and after a while included in an operation of illegal drugs
according to the Policemen, which lead him to do such act shooting six individual and suddenly abduct
5year old boy as his hostage.

How: Day of December 17,2018 PNR station was wrapped in tension where one of the passengers
allegedly snatched the gun of a security guard and recklessly shooting people around the area where
six (6) individuals were injured. The said incident was responded by PO1 CHRISTIAN JOHN CASTOR and
exchanging shots with the suspect DOMINADOR ABRILLO, Construction worker, and a resident in
Taguig City. Upon the chase suspect suddenly abduct a 5year old child as his hostage. Upon 1 hour
negotiation of Manila swat team to the suspect he said that he has a problem and he will bring the
child with him, but with the help of a one Policeman who negotiate with him in warray language the
suspect voluntarily and peacefully surrender himself and the child to the authority. Suspect was
charged of Frustrated homicide, Illegal possession of firearm, and grave threat.

Held hostage his own uncle a Man under the influence of Drugs
What: Man believed under the influence of drugs held hostage his own Uncle
Where: Dangay Street, Roosevelt Ave, Muñoz Market, Quezon City
When: at about 05:00 AM, August 25,2017
Who:
Suspect: Juren Amigo, 27 years old, No work
Victim: Gerry Pisngot, vendor (Munos Market), 55 years old
Negotiating Officer: P/Supt. IGMEDIO BERNALDEZ, Station Commander, QCPD Station 2

Why/Root Cause: Family of the suspect stated to the Police that the suspect was going through drug
addiction, family problem, and no source of income. The victim also stated that he was sleeping when
his nephew which is the suspect asked for his assistance because someone is following him and
allegedly the suspect point a knife to his uncle shoulder and hostage his uncle as a defense that
someone might hurt him.

How: August 15, 2017 on or about 5am in the morning on Dangay Street, Roosevelt Ave, Muñoz
Market, Quezon City. Suspect JUREN AMIGO under influence of illegal drugs held hostage his own
uncle pointing a knife on his Uncle shoulder victim JERRY PISNGOT. In the presence of QCPD station 2
Commander, P/Supt. IGMEDIO BERNALDEZ while in a negotiation he ordered to neutralized the
suspect by the help of SWAT Team from the left side of the suspect and quickly grab the suspect’s
weapon without having further injury to the victim. Suspect was charged of frustrated murder and
alarm in scandal.

VMall Greenhills Hostage Crisis
What: Hostage taking
Where: Virra Mall, Greenhills, Shopping Center, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila
When: at 11:14 AM, March 2, 2020
Who:
Suspect: Archie Paray, 40 years old, Security Guard under SASCOR
Victims: 50 Mall employees, 1 security manager (unknown)

Why/Root Cause: Paray said that he was illegally dismissed from his post and other sentiments of
alleged corruption and labor practice of the suspect’s former employer. This hostage crisis happened
because Paray wants his voice to be heard by many people especially the management from which he
works.
How: On March 2, 2020, 40-year-old Archie Paray, who worked as a security guard at the Greenhills
shopping mall complex in Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines took 55 people hostage at
the administration office on the second floor of the Virra Mall. Paray was an employee of Safeguard
Armor Security Corporation (SASCOR), and believed he was a subject of unjust termination. During the
standoff, Paray demanded authorities to air his grievance against his former employers. Only one
person was injured during the incident, and Paray was arrested after he freed the hostages.

Pasay Hostage taking
What: Hostage taking
Where: Kalay St., Brgy. 132, Pasay City
When: at 05:30 AM, February 04, 2015
Who:
Suspect: Christopher Magsusay, 55 years old, D.O.B March 15, 1964, residingt at 346 Magtibay St.,
Brgy., 132, Pasay City.
Victims: Joel Veloso and his wife and their three children aged 3,4, and 8, Jose Veloso, and two children
of their neighbor.
Why/Root Cause: Authorities stated that it was difficult to speak with Magsusay as he was out of his
mind. Suspect’s wife also stated that the suspect was hit by an emergency light by the brother of
hostage victim Joel that triggered the suspect to do such act.

How: On February 04, 2015 05:30 Am suspect held 8 hostages inside a house but due to tight space of
houses and no window to know his position. Where suspect held hostage Police instructed someone to
go underground so they can hear conversations. They hear the children; they were playing and think
that no hostage was hurt. After 6 hours of negotiation victims one by one came out from the house
and the suspect holding his gun hit at the head and shoulder which caused him to faint and to
surrender to the Police. Serious illegal detention, illegal possession of firearms, alarms and scandal,
attempted homicide, and child abuse were filled on the suspect.
