PADUREA DOMNEASCA

preserve some species and communities of rare plants and animals. It is the oldest
forest in the country and one of the oldest meadow forests in Europe.

The historical sources mention the erection of some fortresses on the Dniester at
fords, made of wood or stone, in the seat of which sit the charioteers and great
captains: Hotin, Soroca, Orhei, Tighina and the White Fortress. It is supposed that in
Soroca, on the place of an old stop mentioned by the Genoese sources, was first
erected a fortress of wood and earth, a lever or maybe an inn.
ORHEIUL VECHI

the main tourist attractions are the monasteries and the views from the rock that
rises tens of meters. A lot of people kept going up and down the rock. Given that we
are in a pandemic, most tourists do not comply with the rules of protection against
Covid. The higher you climb, the more beautiful the view. One of the most important
attractions in the area is the Stone Monastery. Butuceni Monastery is probably one
of the most visited burial hermitages in the country.
MNASTIREA RUDI

The church was built during the reign of Grigore Alexandru Ghica. Initially, the
monastery was established as a hermitage of monks. Later, the monks transferred to
another monastery in the vicinity, and nuns were brought here from the Sărătura (or
Cărătura) hermitage, Hotin county.
