1.

Both act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism agree that our overall aim in evaluating actions
should be to create the best results possible, but they differ about how to do that. Act
utilitarianism believe that whenever we are deciding what to do, we should perform the action
that will create the greatest net utility. An example of act utilitarianism could be when the
government approved the releasing of COVID vaccination, but with known minor side effects
because the vaccine is able to help more people than those who are bothered by the side
effects. Act utilitarianism often demonstrates the concept that “the end justifies the means” or
it's worth it. While Rule utilitarianism adopt a two parts view that stresses the importance of
moral rules. A specific action is morally justified if it conforms to a justified moral rule and a
moral rule is justified if its inclusion into our moral code would create more utility than other
possible rules. An example of rule utilitarianism is when a hotel offers a high class rooms for rich
or wealthy people because they pay a much higher rate than those in ordinary rooms, but they
also get more amenities and those people who cannot afford high class rooms benefit from the
economy rates. This practice produces the highest good for the greatest number of people.

2. Critique Utilitarianism offers a relatively straightforward method for deciding the morally right
course of action for any particular situation we may find ourselves in. For us to discover what we
ought to do in any situation, we should identify the various courses of action that we could
perform. We also needed to determine all of the foreseeable benefits and harms that would
result from each course of action for everyone affected by the action. Lastly, we should choose
the course of action that provides the greatest benefits after the costs have been taken into
account.

3. I will choose Act Utilitarianism, because act utilitarianism is more focused on the consequences
of an action which is a very big help for us to produce the best results, it seems plausible to think
that in each case of deciding what is right thing to do, we should consider or predict their
outcomes, and approve of the action that will produce the most good. Act utilitarianism also
provides a method for showing which moral beliefs are true and which are false.
