Things I Would Do Had I Become Welcome09 Member

Ever since I was a child I have been always attracted to something related to language. Thanks to
my mother who acquainted me with something that I’m in love with up until right now. It has
become my lifestyle I could not get rid of. As a result, my admiration for language has let me
know and learn even more about the language itself. I could learn how other people around the
world interact with each other, their cultures, and I could be more aware of the global issues and
how I play my role as a youth to overcome them.
But unfortunately, as years passed through, I just found out that I have missed something crucial,
that is the essence of learning a language. My teacher once said that language is not just to be
learned, but to be practiced. I remembered the sentence clearly, but I thought it was just mere
advice from a teacher. I did not take the advice seriously until I realized that the hard work I have
been doing for years tirelessly did not make huge progress. I had difficulties every time I wrote
something in English or talked to other people I encounter in a different language. This is caused
by my cowardice to implement everything I have learned by talking to other people. I was too
afraid for being judged if I made mistakes, where I should not. I was devastating, doubting
myself, and about to give up, but I did not.
I told myself to do something to fix this up before it’s too late. So, I decided to make friends and
find a community where I could be provided, especially when it comes to speaking. I need
someone or a platform with the same vision to embrace others to speak without having fear of
being laughed at or judged by their accent or grammar. Also, to be more far-sighted, I need a
platform where I can get an abundance of information about cultures, and global issues around
the world. I tried to find how to make friends abroad and watched some Talkshow as well.
Finally, I found a guy from Peru and excited to be my friend too. But, as Indonesia and Peru
have 12 hours time difference, we could not get to know each other properly. Thus, I thought that
I still have to find a real-life community to complete it. Fortunately, my faculty has provided us
a platform to express our enthusiasm and passion towards language and culture called
Welcome09 SMFT-UH. It is a community that concern to enhance the knowledge of some
languages and cultures around the world like English, Arabic, German, Japanese, Mandarin,
Korean, and many more language and country.
Joining Welcome09 SMFT-UH would help me to solve all the problems I have and would give
me a chance to become a better person more than I am today. I could expand my knowledge as
well as my relation that is good for my future career. However, regardless of receiving those
advantages by joining Welcome09 SMFT-UH, I have to contribute by giving my values to the
organization, so that both parties can get benefit from each other. Had I become Welcome09
SMFT-UH, I would give my energy to embrace all the people that are still having a problem with
their language skill, and convince them that they can do it in many ways, for instance, by using a
device-based application or game, like Duolingo, Memrise, etc, and watching movies without
subtitle to practice our listening skills. I would also commit myself to get involved in every
activity the organization held. And lastly, I would share every single thing I have learned in my
life that might be useful to others, including all the lessons I got from my friends around the
world I have interacted with, and could also invite one of them to interact with the members of
Welcome09 SMFT-UH.
In conclusion, all dreams are valid. Everyone can do all the things they wanted to do and can be
who they wanted to be. But the most important thing, we have to believe in ourselves and do not
quit something we have not done yet, because we never know how God has planned our destiny
to be. Therefore, we must set the goals, find the trigger, act our thoughts, score it. And above all,
our trust in God should never be put down.
