Differentiate Macroscopic Observation to Microscopic Observation?

ANSWER: Microscopic approach considers the behavior of every molecule by using statistical
methods. In Macroscopic approach we are concerned with the gross or average effects of many
molecules' infractions. These effects, such as pressure and temperature, can be perceived by
our senses and can be measured with instruments. The macroscopic level includes anything
seen with the naked eye and the microscopic level includes atoms and molecules, things not
seen with the naked eye. Both levels describe matter.

What are the differences between BAP and CAP?

ANSWER: Chocolate agar is prepared by heating blood agar, which in turn ruptures the red
blood cell (RBC) and releases nutrients that aid in the growth of fastidious bacteria, most notably
Haemophiles and Neisseria species. The name is derived from the fact that the lysis of RBC
gives the medium a chocolate-brown color. Chocolate agar (CHOC) or chocolate blood agar
(CBA), is a nonselective, enriched growth medium used for isolation of pathogenic bacteria. It is
a variant of the blood agar plate, containing red blood cells that have been lysed by slowly
heating to 80°C.

GIve 3 examples of Broth Media, define each.

ANSWER:
 Nutrient broth - a liquid medium used for the cultivation of a wide variety of organisms
from clinical specimens and other materials. This medium can be enriched with other
ingredients such as blood, serum, sugars, etc., for special purposes.
 Nutrient agar - a basic culture medium used to subculture organisms for maintenance
purposes or to check the purity of subcultures from isolation plates prior to biochemical
or serological tests. In semi-solid form, as agar slopes or agar butts, the medium is used
to maintain control organisms
 Peptone water. - used as a growth medium and as the basis of carbohydrate
fermentation media. Peptone Water is recommended for studying the ability of an
organism to ferment a specific carbohydrate, which aids in the differentiation of genera
and species.

What do you mean by homogenization?

ANSWER: It is a process of reducing a substance, such as the fat globules in milk, to extremely
small particles and distributing it uniformly throughout a fluid, such as milk. When milk is
properly homogenized, the cream will not rise to the top, and it is a process that gives milk its
rich, white color and smooth texture. ... The homogenization process involves reducing the size
of the fat globules (the cream that rises to the top of the glass or bottle) into minuscule portions
that are dispersed evenly throughout the milk.

What is Gram Staining?

ANSWER: Gram staining is a common technique used to differentiate two large groups of
bacteria based on their different cell wall constituents. The Gram stain procedure distinguishes
between Gram positive and Gram-negative groups by coloring these cells red or violet. It is is a
test that checks for bacteria at the site of a suspected infection or in certain body fluids, such as
blood or urine. These sites include the throat, lungs, and genitals, and in skin wounds.
