Research and identify at least three (3) free and available tools under each category. Write
a description of the functions and features of a digital tool.

1. Create: Infographics for teachers


Canva- Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics,
presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. The app includes templates
for users to use.

Infogram- Create engaging infographics and reports in minutes. Infogram is an


intuitive visualization tool that empowers people and teams to create beautiful content.

Piktochart- Piktochart is a web-based infographic application which allows users


without intensive experience as graphic designers to easily create infographics and
visuals using themed templates.

2. Digital Storytelling Tools for Teachers

Slide story -This is a free digital story telling tool that students can use to
combine sharing pictures and narration to create awesome presentations and stories to
share with others.

Domo Animate- This is one of the best tools online for digital story telling. It
allows students to create animated stories and provides them with a wide variety of
background and characters to use.

Animoto-This is also a very popular tool but its paid versions offer much more
than its free basic plan that only allows for creating 30 second videos. These videos can
combine images, songs, and text.

3. Podcast Tools for Teachers


Audacity-Audacity is free, open source, cross-platform software for recording
and editing sounds. Audacity is available for Windows, Mac, GNU/Linux and other
operating systems.
BlogAmp - Blogamp is a web-based audio casting solution that combines a rich
media on-demand experience with podcasting. Blogamp’s robust administration utility
and content manager allows site owners and bloggers the ability to customize the on
demand presentation as well as utilize the many add-on features depending on who the
target audience is.

StudioRack- StudioRack is a modular live audio and video production system for


the Windows O.S., intended for the more demanding podcaster, audio and video
producers, DJ’s, radio stations, tv stations etc.

4. Free Survey, Polls, and quizzes Tools for Teachers


‘Socrative-Socrative is your classroom app for fun, effective classroom
engagement. Quickly assess students with prepared activities or on-the-fly questions to
get immediate insight into student understanding. Then use auto-populated results to
determine the best instructional approach to most effectively drive learning.’

Poll Everywhere-A good web tool to engage your audience in real time
interaction. It lets you design interactive polls and surveys and deliver them live to your
audience. ‘Responses appear in an animated graph or chart embedded in your
presentation. Results update live for all to see.’ Poll Everywhere works in major
presentation tools such as Powerpoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.

Typeform-Typeform allows you to easily create a poll that looks beautiful, and
gets more responses…You can make a poll in minutes by dragging and dropping
questions and adding design elements so that it blends beautifully into your brand.
Increase the level of engagement and turn the poll into an experience by adding icons,
images, GIFS and video.’

5. Photo and Image Editing Tools for Teacher


Prisma Photo Editor-There are many apps out there that can put artistic filters
on your photos. Prisma is one of the more popular ones. It turns your photos into works
of art using artificial intelligence and neural networks (algorithms that mimic the way the
brain operates).

Adobe Photoshop-Basics and enhancements: Cropping, resizing, auto and


manual fixing colours, blemish removal etc. Customisation: Filters, stickers, borders, and
custom watermarks. Collages: Arrange multiple images in a variety of ways

Pixabay- A great solution is Creative Commons Zero (CC0) images and you can
check out my post for a number of options for finding these free images.
6. Testing and quizzing Tools for Teachers
QuizStar-is a free online testing tool designed for teachers and instructors. It
allows them to formulate quizzes on a browser, invite students to join an online
classroom and attempt the quizzes online and get the results in the browser itself.

Hot Potatoes- is another free online test-making program. It comes with 6


applications, 5 of which allow teachers to create various forms of quizzes, and the last
one enables you to integrate them all.

Articulate Quizmaker- is one of the most advanced e-testing tools available to


teachers and trainers. It is designed for technically advanced eLearning developers who
create non-standard, complex assessments.

7. Web Conferencing Tools for Teachers


Zoom-is our favorite video conferencing tool. The software combines HD video
conferencing, online business meetings, webinars, demos, tutorials, and mobile
capabilities into one collaborative solution. It also enables you to screen share and lets
you take control of other people’s screens. 

Google Hangouts Meet- This video conferencing software, owned by Google, is


a newer and a better version of the Google’s Hangout app. It has all the basic features a
video conferencing tool needs and levels with the main competitors in the industry.

Cisco Webex Meetings-is a brand new tool but is built on years of innovation
and provides simple video meetings with easy schedule and join experiences.

8. Authoring Tools for Teachers


Easygenerator – Authoring software designed for small teams who need to
produce simple content, fast

iSpring Suite – Desktop PowerPoint-based tool that’s a great option for novice
learning designers who don’t have to worry about updating content regularly

Evolve – Built for teams who need to collaborate together and don’t mind putting
in the time to learn how to use it
8. Video Tools for Teachers
Krut-is a screencast tool that works in almost any Operating system and requires
Java to run. It’s a very simple program with only 3 basic controls: Record, Snap for still
pictures, and the Arrow button used to adjust the borders of your recording area. It’s very
minimalist without all those complicated features features such as timer-controlled
recording. You can also use it for recording streaming video and audio.that other
screencast tools offer, but it can be powerful too because of some additional

CamStudio-is a pretty straightforward program that lets you record your screen


and audio and produce outputs in AVI or SWF format. It enables annotation such as text
and call out inserts and even provides you some cursor options such as default, hidden or
highlighted, which should be carefully laid out prior to recording.

Screencast-O-Matic-is a screencast tool which has both web-based and desktop


versions. It’s very easy to use and will run so long as you have Java installed on your
computer. It has free video hosting and allows you to record your screen or both your
screen and webcam.

9. PDF Tools for Teachers


PDFelement- allows users to edit PDF documents as they would a Microsoft
Word document. Among other features, users can automatically create fillable PDF forms
for data collection as well. Users can then use Data Extraction to export information from
hundreds of identical PDF forms into a single Excel file, and eliminate entering data by
hand.

PDF Zorro- is another online tool that lets you easily manage, edit, and sign your
PDF files. You can convert any PDF document no matter the size or number of pages.

10. Sites to Download Royalty Free and Creative Music for Teachers
Bump Foot- You are free: to Share - to copy, distribute and transmit the work,
and to Remix - to adapt the work.

CASH Music -is a non-profit organization that hosts digital tools for musicians
and labels to share their music. The digital tool allows for uploads and downloads of
songs and sharing is made easy.

11. Stock Photos Sites for Teachers


Shutterstock - Most photographers consider Shutterstock to be one of the top
three photography sites today. Responsible for introducing the innovative photo
subscription model that has expanded across many industries, Shutterstock is famous for
having a large library of stock photography on the web.

Getty Images- is a prestigious stock photography site, well known by many in the
industry. The site started as a conventional company before the internet era, and over the
years, adapted into an online platform.

Deposit Photos -  This agency has been in the market for the last ten years and
was founded by Dmitry Sergeev. The company has grown tremendously since its
inception and continues to expand its photo collection rapidly. Even though the company
is based in Florida, it has offices in many parts of the world and offers customer support
in over twenty different languages.
