Marathon and Race Walk in Sapporo Update


Tokyo 2020 is pleased to provide an update on services for athletes and team officials
participating in Marathon and Race Walk events in Sapporo.

TRAVEL from TOKYO (OLV)


⚫ In order to maintain a safe environment for athletes, team officials and the people of Japan,
Tokyo 2020 is requesting that any teams not having Marathon or Race Walk Pre-Games
Training Camps (PGTC) travel to Sapporo via the Olympic Village (OLV) through Tokyo 2020
arrangements.
⚫ In keeping with the Period of Stay Guidelines for Tokyo 2020 and to allow for a clear split in
travel logistics, Race Walk athletes and team officials should enter the on OLV on 29-30 July
and Marathon athletes and team officials on 30-31 July.
⚫ NOCs must accommodate their Marathon and Race Walk Athletes and team
officials within their NOC allotment in the OLV. No additional beds will be
provided.
⚫ Arrivals and Departures into Tokyo must be input into the Arrivals & Departure System (ADS)
to ensure transport to and from the hotel.
⚫ The current proposed dates for travel are on the table below. Detailed times will be informed
as soon as they are confirmed.

Tokyo 2020 will arrange travel for medal winners and one (1) accompanying official each from Sapporo to
the medal ceremony in Tokyo Olympic Stadium.


TRAVEL from PRE-GAMES TRAINING CAMPS
⚫ If you are traveling from your PGTC it is your NOCs responsibility together with your PGTC
hosts and hosting local government to ensure the proper counter measures for travel. Teams
traveling from PGTC must arrive at Prince Hotel between 29 July and 31 July.
⚫ Arrivals and Departures into New Chitose Airport-CTS (Sapporo) must be input
into the ADS to ensure transport to and from the hotel.

TRANSPORT
The transport system for athletes and team officials (TA) will provide transport services including
bus system for Marathon & Race walk as follows:

1. Arrivals and departures transport from/to New Chitose Airport to/from Sapporo Prince Hotel
between 29 July and 9 August 2021.

2. Transport from/to Sapporo Prince Hotel to/from official training venues between 31 July and
7 August 2021. Operating times will be scheduled in line with the training schedules.

3. Transport from/to Sapporo Prince Hotel to/from official competition venues between 5 August
and 8 August 2021. Operating times will be scheduled in line with the competition schedules.

ACCOMMODATION
⚫ To comply with the Period of Stay Guidelines athletes participating in these events will be
accommodated, free of charge, between 29 July to 9 August 2021 at Sapporo Prince Hotel,
Nishi 11-chome, Minami 2-jo, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. Further information to be provided once
confirmed.

⚫ Check-ins start from 15:00 on 29 July.


⚫ Last check-out is 9 August 2021.
⚫ NOCs with athletes competing in these events will be allocated a specific quota of “Ao” team
officials who are also entitled to free-of-charge accommodation at Sapporo Prince Hotel only
(not the Olympic Village in Tokyo).

Each NOCs are allocated one of the following rooms, based on delegation size
Standard twin room 21 ㎡ / Superior twin room 21 ㎡

Bed size 970×1950×550(mm) / Bed size 1100×2060×545(mm)

●Food services

Location:Food will be served at the Pamir (Banquet wing).

Service time:Breakfast 6:00~10:00、Lunch 11:00~15:00、Dinner 17:00~22:00

Menu:Meals for Athletes are provided. Details will be posted on Tokyo 2020.

●Refreshments
Location: Hapuna (Hotel building, 1st floor)
Service time:Hapuna 5:00~23:00

※Special opening time for the competition days

50km Race Walk (Men) 1:00~(served at the Hapuna only)

Marathon (Men/Women) 3:00~(served at the Hapuna only)

●Beverages
Coca-cola beverages are provided at the dining venues and refreshment locations above.
●Laundry service
Collection : Pamir (Banquet wing, 1st floor) 6:00~9:00 Return: TBD
●Ice service
Provided at the Hotel building and the Pamir (Banquet wing).
●Multipurpose rooms
Three (3) rooms are available for use as a conference room at the Pamir (2nd floor).
Reservations are required. NOCs fill in the reservation form placed at the Tokyo 2020
information desk and pick up the key prior to use the room. The key must be returned once
finish to use the room. Available for up to one hour and a half (90minutes).
●Medical service
No individual rooms are provided for massage or medical care for NOCs. Therefore, Tokyo2020
will provide the following services;
●Massage area
Massage beds are available for use at the Pamir (3rd floor).
Reservations are required. NOCs fill in the reservation form on location.

●Treatments by Tokyo 2020 Massage Therapists


Available at Hotel building, 24th floor. Those who wish to have a treatment are required
to see a doctor at the clinic prior to have it. Opening hours, 7:00~23:00

●Tokyo 2020 Medical Team

- The following services will be provided at the Hotel building, 24th floor. If possible, make
an appointment prior to see a doctor.

- Opening hours:7:00~23:00

- General Consultation(Image findings, X-ray, etc. are available at the games designated

hospital)

- In case of emergency between 23:00 and 7:00, transported by ambulance to the


designated hospital of the events.

Covid-19 Screening test

Athletes.

TRAINING
⚫ In line with the Period of Stay Guidelines the Marathon and Race Walk Training venue will
be open five (5) days prior to the start of the first competition on 31 July 2021.

ACCREDITATION
The number of additional “Ao” accreditations for Marathon and Race Walk events is calculated
according to 1 x “Ao” per gender, per event, plus based on the total number of “Aa” athletes
competing in these events in Sapporo.

⚫ Additional Sapporo “Ao" team officials calculated according to this Sapporo


formula are not counted as a part of the total NOC delegation size. Therefore,
this will not affect NOC entitlements such as NOC spaces at the Olympic
Village in Tokyo, NOC dedicated vehicles, NOC Assistants, etc.
⚫ Whilst these “Ao” team officials will have access to the Olympic Village in Tokyo
they will not be allocated a bed there. They are permitted to stay at the Olympic
Village if the NOC chooses to accommodate them within the NOC allotment.
⚫ NOCs cannot reallocate these “Ao” accreditations to other sports. If NOCs
choose not to use the full allocation of additional Sapporo “Ao” accreditations,
they cannot reallocate to other sports.
⚫ Additional Sapporo “Ao” accreditations will not be considered as part of the
calculation for 1/All venue access.
⚫ These Sapporo “Ao” team officials have Knife & Fork dining privileges and can
therefore access dining services. This also permits access to dining services at
the Olympic Village in Tokyo (Main Dining Hall, Casual Dining and Grab & Go).
⚫ These extra team official accreditations are NOT transferable and are excluded
from the base number for transferable accreditation transactions.
⚫ Marathon and Race Walk athletes will be allocated beds in both the Olympic
Village in Tokyo and Sapporo Prince Hotel.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Race Walk / Marathon athletes and team officials are:
⚫ Not permitted to leave the hotel except to go to training or competition venues.
⚫ Not permitted to train on city streets outside the hotel.
⚫ Not permitted to use self-arranged accommodation or self-arranged vehicles.
⚫ Athletes are not allowed to spectate at the competition venue except on their
own competition day
