Development

Proposed Development Procedures

For this instructional lesson on how to teach Virginia Tech recruits if they fit into the culture of
the football program on signing day with the knowledge they learned. I will use mostly pre-existing
educational and instructional materials from a vital source within Virginia Tech’s football program. The
instructional material from the source will transformed and fit to align with the learning objectives I
have set within the lesson. The recruiting staff of Virginia Tech’s football program will be working with
me to make sure that the information within the lesson I am giving is accurate and exact. There are
some existing materials that can be changed in the lesson. The instructional strategy for this lesson will
require a PowerPoint presentation, an instructor to present the content to learners, and a set of
review/evaluation questions for assessing the learner’s performance. I will be the designer and the
developer of the instructional material. I not be the instructor as the material is for the recruiting
department to instruct to learners. I will also be creating and developing rough drafts of the PowerPoint
presentation and assessment questions. After the creation of the rough drafts, I will revise, edit, and
make the final changes in order to produce the final finished presentation.

Proposed Formative Evaluation Procedures

For the formative evaluation, I will be performing an expert review from someone with the
recruiting department of Virginia Tech. They are professionals in recruiting high school athletes
transitioning into becoming college football players. I will collect their feedback on the quality of
information and accuracy of the content and materials within the instructional lesson.

After the expert review, I will conduct a one-to-one evaluation with selected learners who are
recruits that visit the school in person. The learners I select will all have different levels of knowledge.
They will be able to provide feedback on the lesson of what they thought of the lesson and give an idea
of how helpful the lesson is.

The small group evaluation will consist of 5 freshman football players at Virginia Tech. They are
similar to the target population as they were considered in the population a short time ago. Learners
will be presented with the instructions for the lesson. They will complete the presentations, assessment
questions, and surveys at the end of the lesson. The feedback and question results received will be
examined for changed to be made to the instruction.

For the field test, I would ask someone in the Virginia Tech recruiting department to be the
instructor. I would select a group of learners that are similar to the target population of the instruction. I
will not instruct the lesson as I will manage the data and feedback received from the field test.
