Learner Analysis

My target population for my multimedia program is high school athletes. As far as race goes this
group is very diverse with all different racial groups consisting of women and men. Their ages are
between 14 - 18 years old. The grade levels of there high school athletes consist of 9 th to 12th grade. It is
necessary that my learners be self-motivated for themselves to get ahead on avoiding injuries and to get
themselves better. The prerequisite skills that my learners will need are to be able to differentiate body
parts and muscle groups, know the difference between the left and right, and be able to count to 30.
Learners know warm up drills they are put through by their coaches, but drills consist of very few
running exercises to get sweat going and no in-depth stretches. They have seen their teammates suffer
from non-contact injuries that could have been avoided. My learners also know that there are more
things out there that they could do to help them feel more prepared to compete. The learners will have
a positive attitude towards my content and delivery system. Stretching will benefit them in their sport
and help them achieve the goals they have set for themselves. The delivery system will potentially be a
multimedia program or PowerPoint to allow learners to view at their own pace. It is very reasonable to
expect my learners to want to absorb the information that is presented to them. The topic will interest
them because it directly relates to the sports they love to participate in and it will be very simple to
easily comprehend. Yes, it is reasonable to expect my leaners to learn what needs to be learned. My
topic will be very simple and easy to comprehend for my learners. Learners won’t have to go deep to get
what is being taught. Football is a team sport which tends to lead to athletes developing better
communication with others. My learners are football players and they are mostly surrounded by a group
or small group of others as they learn new things. I would consider the idea of group interactive learning
as something that could be seen as a general learning preference. My learners will have a neutral
attitude towards the instruction being provided until they begin. There are many similarities between
my targeted learners. They all have a goal to be at their best to prepare for their high school seasons.
They are self-motivated, self-confident, and take the time to work for what they want. They are very
diverse and also have differences between them. They can come from all different backgrounds,
economic classes, races, gender, ages, and athletic abilities. I am an athlete myself and I have been
around an athletic environment for over ten years.

Context Analysis

Performance Context

Once the learners are able to obtain the new information and accomplish the goal they will be
able to perform the stretches. The stretches will benefit them tremendously and they will see the
results. Staying in the game and being able to avoid injuries that will prevent you from playing is crucial.
Learner’s will be able to receive managerial support from there teammates that will provide
encouragement and guidance. As an athlete, a teammate can become your closest friends and friends
often do the same things. Once the learners are able to obtain the goal they will want to show
teammates or the teammates will already be asking for the learners to teach them. As The learners’
coaches will be able to depend on them because they know they will be available to play. Learners will
also can also expect to see more self-pride as they know they are taking steps forward to achieving goals
they have set for themselves. The use of these new skills does depend on certain equipment. Learners
will need a resistance band and a roller to complete the goal of stretching their body. Without these
things the stretching techniques won’t be as effective and individuals won’t get the most out of it with
them. A resistance band and roller won’t be provided in the lesson as it is online, but learners will need
to have their own as they can perform the stretches whenever they want with them. The learners can
complete these stretches independently or along with others. Once my learners have acquired the new
skill that I will teach they will be able to use the knowledge and skills provided before a big game or even
practice. This directly relates to what my learners are doing with their sport. They put strain on their
bodies time after time, due to this they have to take great care of their bodies. Stretching is a way of
waking up the body, a form of recovery, and important to one’s health especially athletes. When they
do properly perform the stretches they will be able to get their bodies prepared to make big plays and
also prevent injuries to keep them in the game. Stretching could be used in other areas of the learners
lives as it also benefits one’s health. There are some constraints to the use of the new skill they will
learn. The learners need to make at least a 5 to 10-minute window before practice or competition to
complete these stretches. Motivational constraints could be present as times goes, but learners have to
realize the big picture and know that in the end they are helping themselves. The stretches that will be
taught are very beneficial to the learner and there will always be an opportunity present to use these
skills could take place. This could take place at home in your room, at the field, on the track, court, or
even at the gym. I was able to get this information about the performance context my own personal
experiences as in athlete in the sport of football.

Learning Context

Context Analysis

There will be two sites for the instruction. The online site where learners will be able to view the
instruction and their own in-home setting where the learners will be able to participate in the
instruction. The in-home site that the learner puts themselves in should include all the tools and
equipment needed. The tools and equipment that will be necessary to deliver and receive this
instruction is a computer with access to the internet and Microsoft PowerPoint. A foam roller and
resistance band will also be necessary. The sites are very convenient to the learners as they should make
have plenty of space in their in-home sites to reenact and exercise the instructed stretches. The learning
environment will present some things similar to the work environment. It would be hard to give a
realistic feel of the environment as the lesson is online and the work environment would be outside. The
lesson will put the learner in the perspective that they are in a calm state preparing to get their body
ready to perform. During the lesson there will be calming music playing to get the feeling of relaxation
within the body for learners. The lesson will present calming colors that will ease the mind. I wanted to
use little things like these hoping to give the learnings a calming feeling as stretching can relax and
improve the body. I was able to get this information about the learning context from research regarding
stretching, the previous knowledge I have learned in the ITMA program, and my own personal
experiences.
