“Taught To Pray” – SKIT SCRIPT

SCENE 1:
Arron: We will be taking a short trip back down memory lane into the bible and into the
book of Matthew to the time of Jesus, when he taught his disciples how to pray …
Scene Opening-
ENTER JAKE AND LINUS (DISCIPLES)
Jake: What a wonderful day it is today don’t you agree my good friend.
Linus: Yes, indeed my good friend - quite frankly a blessing from God.
Jake: So, Peter I’ve been wanting to ask you, how do you pray at home. I walk around and I
see many people pray in many ways, but you – how do you pray?
Linus: Judas my brother its not that hard – you see my close bond with Jesus means that I
have been taught the way to pray.
Jake: Okay, how about you show me how it’s done
Linus: Not a problem, so you start off like this…

ENTER LEO (JESUS)
Leo: Ah Greetings Peter and Judas I trust you are well.
Jake and Linus: Quite fine thankyou
Jake: And you?
Leo: Never been better. Might have been me but I may have just overheard one of you
teaching the other to pray – now who might that be.
Jake: Oh, I was just taking a few tips from our aspiring professional on how to pray
Leo: Wouldn’t hurt then to teach me also how to pray
Linus: Oh, I don’t know…
Leo: You don’t know how to pray do you my friend, you see this isn’t how you pray. Not to
worry though, I can teach you.
ENTER SHEEN, MARIA, ARRON, LEON (PHARISEES/ HYPOCRITES)
Position to right of stage
Leo: You see when you pray, do not use allot of meaningless words as the pagans do (LEO TO
POINT TO THE RIGHT OF THE STAGE) and do not be like the hypocrites who like to stand up
and pray in the house of worship and street corners. However, (LEON MOVE TO OPPOSITE
SIDE OF STAGE AND ACT OUT THE FOLLOWING SPEECH – LEO TO POINT AT LEON DURING
SPEECH) you should instead go to your room, close your door, and pray to your father as
follows. You shall pray…
Our father in heaven,
Holy is your name,
May your kingdom come,
And your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven,
Give us this day the food we need,
And forgive us the wrongs we have done,
As we forgive the wrong that others have done to us,
Do not bring us to hard testing,
But deliver us from the evil one…
