The Effect of Interspecific Competition on the

Growth of Corn and Red Chili

Author : Widyasti, H

Abstrak --- Plants Competition or competition is a form

of interaction between plants that fight over the
available natural resources that are limited to land and
time. Corn and red chili are different types of plants. If
both are planted on the same medium, it is highly likely
that there will be interactions in the form of
competition, which is not only for a place to grow, but
also for nutrients, water and sunlight for photosynthesis.
This means that there is an overlapping ecological space
between corn and red chili. This study aims to study the
effect of competition between two different types of
plants. The experimental method in this practicum
consists of four treatments. The first polybag treatment
was planted with one corn seed and one red chili seed,
the second treatment polybag planted two corn seeds
and two red chili seeds, the third treatment polybag
planted three corn seeds and three red chili seeds, and
the fourth treatment polybag planted four corn seeds
and four seeds Red chili pepper. Each treatment was
repeated 3 times. The results of the study showed that
in the four treatments there was interspecific
competition between corn and red chili plants. It can be
concluded that the growth of corn plants is better than
red chilies when planted together in one polybag
because of the interspecific competition between corn
and chili plants.
