Virtual Reality in the

Classroom

What Is Virtual
Reality?
 Virtual reality, also known as VR, is a
computer-generated 3D printed reality,
image, or environment.
 The user can interactive and move within
the environment by using a headset,
gloves, or sensors.
 Virtual reality can take students to
different places in the world and explore
and experience them while in the
classroom.
What are the
Materials Needed?
 There are many different options to use
for VR.
 To do VR you always need a headset.

itself. It can also headset where students
can use their phones as screens.
 Teachers can also buy gloves or belts
with sensors on them, so students are
able to move items in VR.
 There are also sensors that can be
placed throughout the classroom to
track movements.

VR In The Classroom

 Virtual reality can be used for many different type of

classrooms. In one case, it can be used to show
students how the moon phases work. Astronomy
classes are able to use the technology by showing This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND

students the stars and planets in VR. The students can

move the planets while they are revolving around the
sun.
 Virtual reality can also be used by geography and
history teachers. Students can travel and walk around
monuments in different countries. They can also be
placed into the past to see how events in history This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND

looked like.
Benefits Of Using VR in
the Classroom
 One of the major benefits of virtual reality is teachers
being able to help students visualize lesson more.
They can teach students with more of a hands-on
learning while staying in the classroom.
 Schools can send students throughout the universe
within the classroom without breaking the budget.
They can
 Students can experience new technology and are
able to learn more about history visually through VR.
 VR meets the needs of many different learning
preferences of students.
 There is an increase of test score when students use
VR in the classroom.
 Students are more excited for school lessons.
Downfalls of VR in the Classroom

 Virtual reality equipment is very expensive. The prices range

between $50 to $400 per headset alone. Some schools can not
afford the technology.
 Teachers would need a training on how to use it in the classroom.
 It is sensitive to touch and are sometimes easily broken.
 There can be fewer field trips for students to go on because of VR
being to take the students to the locations.
 Students can easily spread germs without properly cleaning the
headset.
