Designing Three Gateways in Egypt

Competition Description
This competition focuses on designing three different gateways in Egypt (Alexandria, Luxor, and
Sharm El-Sheikh Gates). A gate or gateway is a point of entry to a space. Gates may prevent or
control the entry or exit of individuals, or they may be merely decorative. A City gate is an
entryway for this city so it should reflect the city spirit.

gate has its own identity due to its location (Diversity within Unity).

Design Considerations

- The gates design will mainly based on visual aspects.
- Consider each site (City) own identity.
- Innovation and creativity are expected in choosing the major theme for the three gates
design and in developing your design ideas.
- The design may express a Parametric design approach that is influential on the gates
design.
- The gates design may be directed to Responsive/ Kinetic architectural approach.
- The design should reflect adequate choice of materials.
