Design a Classroom

I am going to describe and explain why I design the classroom the way I did. First, I
placed storage room and computer, where I tried to place storage at the corner of the room
because if they are placed in middle then students may get hurt and fall down. So I placed
storage closet and book storge in the corner. Next, I placed computers, where both of them are
placed in opposite directions and side of the storage closets. The reason behind this is, if any
student want to use computer and both of them are on the other corner then they have to walk till
the end of the room which can disturb other students. If they were placed on the either sides then
students can use them when ever need and no disturbance for others. After, I tried placing the
tables and chairs for 25 students, where I placed three students with attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder, side of the computer and projector screen because teacher can get there
attention when giving a lecture and look after them. Then, I placed five students with learning
disabilities opposite to the computer where the students can use computer when needed and a
chair in front of them where teacher is going to look after them and improve their disability.
Next, I fixed three gifted students, in a 6-bench table which is placed in the middle of the
classroom and also side of the teacher desk where, three of them can get connected with other
children and help each other. Then, I placed a student in a wheelchair near the computer and in
between the five students with learning disabilities and three gifted students because I wanted
this child to get interact with the other children in the classroom and does not feel alone. Finally,
I fixed all the four English learners in front of the teacher desk because I want the teacher to take
good care and help those children to improve their English. This classroom has been designed for
the secondary (grade level) children and can be a suitable one for them. The main reason I
designed all the student in a particular place like all the five learning disability students are
placed at one table because to make them feel good and comfortable and does not feel they are
less than other student.

This is not a reflection of my personal worldview; it is about the diverse students in the
classroom. The artifacts on the walls communicate to students and parents, that are attached in
the classroom, are mentioned as follows. In one of the pictures, it shows that diversity is the
common thing among culture, where I am trying to make all children treat each other equally
without any cultural difference. I also added some things which indicates the importance of
culture and unity. The values that I want to communicate through this environment is that all are
equal and not one is greater than other, and every student is placed under the teacher eyes, where

the teacher can able to see all the students in the class. There is no difference between the
students who have some difficulty in talk (or doing some things) and the children with some
disabilities. All are equal and they need to treat each other in a good way and help each other in
improving their skills. Every student should be focused and study well and improve their
disabilities. I want the environment to teach those children in the class to be strong, do not feel
bad if they cannot able to talk proper or do anything properly. Also, want those children to
improve their skills and come out of the class with good marks and acknowledge the skill which
they are bad in. This is the classroom design that I created and planned according with the help
of the instructions given under the assignment. I enjoyed doing this assignment and learned
many things which I don’t even know. By doing this design, I acknowledge new things and this
can be used in my future.
