LASALLE COLLEGE VANCOUVER

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
LaSalle College Vancouver and LaSalle College Vancouver High School are looking for individuals
who want to make an impact in the creative arts arena, and who show potential to thrive in their
studies and future career. We are offering scholarships worth up to 20% of the annual, full-time
tuition to new students in our diploma*, degree, and high school programs.
*E-Learning Diplomas are not eligible for scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY
→ Open to any new domestic or international student, or graduated LCV alumni; current LCV
students who are transferring from a diploma to a degree program may also be considered.

→ Students must have an active admissions application – international applicants must have
received a Letter of Offer and domestic students must have full or conditional acceptance.

→ Students must submit a completed application prior to the submission deadline as outlined
under the “Steps to Apply” section below.

STEPS TO APPLY
The following items are required for a complete scholarship application:

1) A short video (2 minutes) showcasing your athletic talent. Be sure to specify the event details
along with team name (if applicable) and/or self-identifying descriptors.

2) A recommendation letter from a coach, instructor, club leadership representative, or other


person well acquainted with the applicant’s level of excellence. The letter should include
significant detail about the applicant’s achievements, and be on official letterhead (or explain in
detail the writer’s relationship to the applicant), and must be authenticated with a signature and
up-to-date contact details.

3) A 250-word personal narrative statement discussing your athletic talent, years of competition,
level of competition, accolades, and future aspirations. You should also explain how you intend
to maintain involvement in your athletic pursuits while studying at LCV/LCV High School.

4) Completed & Signed Application Form.

5) Submission Deadline instructions: In order to be considered, your completed scholarship


application package must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to your program start date
to: scholarships@lasallecollegevancouver.com.

SCHOLARSHIP ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Applicants will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Athletic: Demonstrated athletic ability in amateur or professional sports at a


provincial, national, or international level.

Community Spirit: Demonstrated willingness to be proactively involved with local,


national or international community activities and causes, as well as
the LaSalle College Vancouver community.

Social Responsibility: May include: contributing to community and caring for the
environment; promoting sustainable design; solving problems in
peaceful ways; valuing diversity; building relationships; demonstrating
global citizenship.

SCHOLARSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS


→ By accepting the scholarship, the recipient must agree to take part in activities and events as
outlined in, but not limited to, the Student Responsibilities section of the application.

→ Students must be registered in a full course load of 12* or more credits each quarter to be
eligible.

→ Deferral of or withdrawal from studies may result in forfeit of the remainder of the scholarship
award (or the entire award if the studies have not yet commenced).

→ Students must maintain good academic standing, with a minimum 3.0 GPA each quarter. Failure
to meet academic obligations may result in forfeit of the scholarship award. Any tuition or fees
associated with repeating a failed subject will be the responsibility of the student.

→ The scholarship award will be applied to tuition fees, disbursed quarterly, and commence in the
second quarter.

→ Scholarships are competitive and are awarded at the discretion of LCV.

*Exceptions to the course load requirement are made if a student has a documented learning accommodation requirement.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to the LaSalle College Vancouver community,
assist prospective students, and get involved with events. Recipients may be required to:

→ Participate in school activities such as Open House, Orientation, Portfolio Show, etc. as a Student
Ambassador.

→ Support the promotion of the institution by participating in testimonials, website content, social
media, local marketing events, and other initiatives.

→ Support the Admissions Department and Program Directors when necessary for on-campus
events, tours, alumni events, and other duties as required.

→ Support initiatives pertaining to the LCI Foundation.

→ Students are expected to provide up to one hour of time for every $100 awarded.

NEXT STEPS
→ The scholarship committee meets twice each quarter to review applications.

→ If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified by email.

→ Your Student Financial Planner will add the scholarship to your financial plan as a reduction of
your tuition fees starting from the second quarter and disbursed in quarterly amounts over the
length of your program.
