REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
After having an interview with various people of different ages, I realized
that the impacts of a disaster or calamity differs from the coping, emotional, financial,
and physical capacity of the people. I realized that people of different ages had different
perspectives and reactions upon witnessing a disaster, and that is because they have
different ranges of feelings and emotions.
As for the adults, the impacts of disasters or calamities for them is also the
same as for teens and children. But the only difference is that, adults are more composed
and collected upon reacting to those events. Adults during calamities are the ones who
needs to be on the front line. Meaning they have to be the one who would take in lead,
since they are the most capable and competent out of the family. They had to be strong
and emotionally unfazed even though they’re tormented deep inside. That’s why adults
likely breaks down after disasters, for they always bottle and keep their emotions inside.
