(CWTS) COMMUNITY SERVICE PROPOSAL

1. TITLE AND BACKGROUND

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Hygiene Workshop for Kids (DRRH-WorK)
of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy 1-19 from the Polytechnic University of the
Philippines – Sta. Mesa, Manila is an interactive learning project designed and intended
for the kids of Teresa Street and nearby areas in Manila. It aims to: (1) educate children
on the implications, causes, and effects of various types of natural or man-made
disasters such as earthquake, typhoon, flood, and fire, as well as the safety procedures
on how to respond before, during, and after these types of disasters; and (2) teach them
the importance of good hygiene, and the ways on how to achieve and maintain the
latter. Activities to be conducted are child-friendly and appealing, to ensure that young
minds will be able to absorb the knowledge in a creative, interactive way.
The aforementioned project will serve as a requirement for the subject, Civic
Welfare Training Services 2 (CWTS 10023), under the National Service Training
Program (NSTP).

2. IMPLEMENTER
The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) 1-19 will organize and
facilitate the overall flow and execution of the project, under the supervision of their
CWTS 10023 instructor, Ms. Rosemarie R. Bernardino.

3. PROJECT TEAM
Instructor: Ms. Rosemarie R. Bernardino
Students: BSA 1-19 Class Officers

4. TARGET GROUP
The implementers target thirty (30) beneficiaries ages 8-14 years old who are
currently residing at Teresa Street, and other nearby areas within the vicinity of PUP in
Manila. This is to ensure that the workshop will be effective and will be applied in case
of related circumstances in accordance with the goal of the project—since that they live
in seemingly disaster-prone areas.

5. COOPERATING AGENCIES
BSA 1-19 will be seeking the assistance of the local government unit of
Barangay 591, District VI, Manila. The implementers and the aforementioned unit will
be needing coordination for the workshop venue, preferably the Teresa Basketball
Covered Court, and other needed support and equipment for the successful and safe
execution of the program.
