After reading this assignment, I have had some positive impact on my openness and
curiosity about cultures. I learned that we live in a world full of differences, but there
is no line between human beings. All the differences in the world make this world rich
and diverse, we have to accept these differences and respect them. Also, each culture
in our world is valuable, every culture has its own unique and long history.
The small game resonated the most with me. The games look simple but seldom do
people solve them. Those who can’t solve the problems drew invisible boxes outside
the nine points, they were unwilling to go outside the line and failed to solve it. In
addition, the game is similar in some ways to people's attitudes towards cultural
differences. People draw lines to distinguish between people who are different. But,
just like the speaker says, “the problem is not that we draw or see lines. The problem
see the differences but I won’t draw lines and believe the lines are existing. I will try
my best to solve problems more sincerely with divergent thinking. Also, we don’t
need to connect too many things, this action is drawing lines. We need to explore by
ourselves.
The speaker and I have different cultural backgrounds, receive different education,
have a different color of our skin, and speak different native languages. However,
there are no lines between us, we all love our countries and ourselves. We all respect
and try to accept different cultures, and we all believe every country is equal.
I have to say my worldview is not significantly different from anyone else's. maybe
that’s because my worldview is not quite sound yet. I believe most people in the world
are longing for the goods and are willing to work hard for the good. Maybe, some
people could not accept different cultures easily, but I believe shortly, more and more
After watching this video, my worldview hasn’t changed a lot. Since we study in a
Sino-foreign cooperative school, we learned the thought and culture from China and
America. What’s more, the professors in our university are come from all over the
world. They will also tell us some culture in their country. As a result, students in our
school contact different cultures every day.
The speaker is trying to tell us our world is open, each person may have a
completely different worldview. Even though we are different, there are no lines
between us. We are equal and we are all the same to the world.
