Social media websites have become one of the most significant impacts towards

online learning to continue education in today’s digital era. People make use of social
media platforms around the world through its innovative, attractive, and unprecedented
developments. Not only do people use social media for popularity but its educational
benefits, convenience and accessibility also towards online learning. Amidst this
COVID-19 Pandemic, college universities have recently implemented back-up plans in
order to avoid certain disruptions of attending school classes and minimize the spread
of the coronavirus by making use of digital technology through social media platforms
such as Zoom, Canva, Grammarly, and others while university establishments are
physically closed. Nowadays, students are accessing these social media platforms
through their mobile technologies in order to submit different requirements and attend
their daily school classes. As for University of Asia and the Pacific, faculty members
are required to receive training and renew the teaching materials and class activities for
this semester.
The impact of free access on Zoom, Canvas, and Grammarly creates a positive
effect on the university’s performance because it would reduce costs and expenses that
require physical activities, increase a number of student applicants to enroll, shift to
online platforms through digital technology, and it would incentives its faculty members
to adapt to online learning. Through the application of Market Forces of Demand and
Supply, and Quantitative Demand Analysis, we may be able to analyze the benefits of
the university in utilizing these online platforms and make an informed decision whether
the university should invest its resources on Zoom, Canvas, and Grammarly based on
scarce resources.
Free access on open-source social media platforms such as Zoom, Canvas, and
Grammarly would be beneficial for the University of Asia and the Pacific because these
platforms would reduce other costs and expenses of providing academic and school-
related services.

TOTAL 19,958

Based on the Registration Certificate in 2019, total miscellaneous fees is PHP

19,958.00 due to the cost of providing Energy, Internet, Athletics, Registration,
Substance Abuse Prevention, Medical Insurance, Student Affairs and Activities, ID
Validations, and others related to this matter. As a result, the university needs to cover
all these costs and other expenses by collecting a certain amount of fees paid by UA&P
students. In the midst of this crisis, physical and on-campus activities are prohibited.
Therefore, all students and faculty members of University of Asia and the Pacific are
required to work-from-home and continue their class lectures through blended learning.
Given this current situation, it would be beneficial and convenient if the university would
utilize and subscribe to these free access online platforms such as Zoom, Canvas LMS,
and Grammarly as a mode of online learning. Due to this, these would save the
university’s earnings and adjust certain costs that’s related to the physical facilities, on-
campus activities, and events.
By applying the Market Forces of Demand and Supply, if the university will use
digital technology via free access on Zoom, Canvas LMS, and Grammarly for all faculty
members and UA&P students, we can predict that the cost of providing school
amenities, programmes and services will decrease for this year. Therefore, advances in
digital technology through open-based online platforms will shift the supply curve to the
right. For example, energy fees will decrease at PHP 500 by approximately 77.11%
while.

Therefore, advances in digital technology through open-based online platforms
will shift the supply curve to the right. Based on the data from the Registration
Certificate, as the university starts to utilize free access on open-based online platforms,
cost of the school will decrease and miscellaneous fees of UA&P students will reduce
as well. Not only does this create a shift towards the supply curve, but it will also cause
change towards the demand. Since costs of the university have been reduced and
miscellaneous fees have been adjusted, students and faculty members will demand
and benefit more on the open access media platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, and
Grammarly.
