TUTORIAL FOR INFORMATION SEARCHING USING PTAR

STEP 1

1. You are required to search for the website which is

https://library.uitm.edu.my/opac.html.
2. Key in the Staff ID if you are a staff and key in the Student ID if you are a student.
3. Key in the password which is your Identity Card (IC).
4. Choose the location of your UiTM, for example UiTM Kedah.
5. Click on the “SUBMIT” button to log in into the OPAC.

1. Key in the keyword(s) that you want to search only. For example, I am searching for
the word “independence” and I do not have to type the exact sentences to search for
a book that I want.
2. Choose the location of your Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak (PTAR). For example, I
am choosing Perpustakaan Sultan Badlishah.
3. Choose the database that you want to choose such as “Articles Data”, “Books etc.”,
“E-books Data”, “Journals Data”, and “All Databases”. For me, I choose to search
every database.
4. Choose if you want to connect the keyword(s) as “OR”, “AND”, and “PHRASE”. For
example, my keyword is “policies” so put it as a “PHRASE”.
5. There are 14 fields for you to choose, in what field you are going to choose to search
for the keyword(s). For example, I chose “Title” because the word “independence” is
the title of the book.
6. Key in the year of the books if you know when the books were published. For me, I
don’t choose any year because I do not know when the books being published.
7. Choose in what order you want the books to appear. For example, I choose “title” so
it’s easy for me to look up for the books.
8. Click on the “GO” button and wait for the results.

1. The title of the book is “MALAYSIA: ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE ” you can

search for the book at the bookshelf by title.
2. You can also look at the call number of the book which is at bone of the book. The
call number of the book is “DS597.A56 1984” then you can find the book easily at the
shelf.
3. At the second box you can see the characteristics of the book and which UiTM PTAR
has the same books.
4. The bottom box has the account number, which is the location of the shelf, the
location of the book located which is “PSB KEDAH”
