2) Answer ALL questions.
3) The test must be taken completely alone. Showing it or discussion with anyone is
forbidden.
4) Please write your answer on your own papers using pen.
5) Student must ensure that their test papers are readable. Ensure that your answers are
written clearly with your name, group and student ID are provided.
6) Student must prepare their answer on pdf format and submit via Google
Classroom/Microsoft Teams or any other platform used by lecturer.
7) Keep close track of your allocated time. Due to internet connectivity, students are given
no more than 30 minutes (5.00-5.30pm) to submit their works electronically.
8) Late submission (after 5.31 pm) will not be accepted.

QUESTION 1

a) What level of measurement would be used to measure each variable?

i) The ages of patients in a local hospital.


(1 mark)

ii) The ratings of fiction books - excellent, good, fair, poor.


(1 mark)

iii) Online spending.


(1 mark)

iv) Temperature of hot tub local health clubs.


(1 mark)

b) State which probability sampling method was used.

i) A researcher divides a group of students according to their academic


performance (Excellent, Moderate, Low). Then the researcher selects 10
students randomly from each group to answer questions in a survey.
(1 mark)

ii) Every 10th bottle of Lemon Juice is selected, and the amount of liquid in the
bottle is measured. The purpose is to see if the machines that fill the bottles
are working properly.
(1 mark)

ii) Out of 40 services centres throughout Malaysia, a sample of five centres


was selected at random. Questionnaires are disseminated to all customers
who services their cars at the five selected services centres on one selected
day (the day of the survey).
(1 mark)

c) Mr Lim wants to investigate the stressful of his students during online distance
learning. There are six classes taught by him. Out of the six classes, he randomly
selected two classes. All students in the selected class are given a set of
questionnaires and stress scores obtained are calculated.

i) State the population for the above study.

ii) Name the sampling method and state the sampling frame.
(2 marks)

iii) Explain how to select his sample from the population by using the method
stated in part (ii).

iv) Suggest the suitable data collection method? Give advantage of this method.

population) from 2014-2016 for four states in Peninsular Malaysia.

(a) Determine the shape of the distribution of the above data.

(d) Determine the shape of the mass distribution using Pearson’s Coefficient of
Skewness.
(3 marks)

(e) The mean and standard deviation of students’ mass for School Y are 13 and 2.5
respectively. Determine which school has a more consistent mass.
