1. Classical Theory have four reasons why delinquent persons/offenders should be

punished namely; General deterrence, Specific deterrence, incapacitation and
Retribution. In contrast with positivists that focused on Rehabilitation or Reformation
which has been the most widely applied correction method today. In your own
perspective, which is more effective the classical way of punishment or the
reformation/rehabilitation method? And why? Elaborate your answer.
Answer: In my own perspective, reformation/rehabilitation method is way more effective
than the classical
JUVENILE way of punishment.
DELINQUENCY & CRIMESince we’re talking about youth offenders, it is likely
PREVENTION 3
that the juvenile delinquents were affected by outside factors or less likely innate in
nature thus it needs to be treated rather than being severely punished according to the
classical way of punishment. As what reformation/rehabilitation method postulated, they
really believed that causes of crime and delinquency are varied thus making the treatment
for offender must also be varied. Therefore, for me the most effective way is the
reformation/rehabilitation method.

2. What parenting style did your parents applied in your home? And why?
Answer: Probably, Indulgent parent is what my mom’s parenting style is. She’s not
imposing strict discipline towards us, resulting us having more freedom and we doesn’t
fear her in a good way. But she corrects us if we crossed the line and discipline us
accordingly. As a result of her parenting style, we try our best not to cross the boundaries
of her limitation. We have the freedom to do things on our own as long as we know what
is good and bad, and we must also be accountable and responsible for our own freedom
and choice.
