THREE POINTS
1. CONNECT & SHARE THE SAME GOAL (Hebrews 12:2 Fixing our eyes to Jesus)
As each goose flaps its wings it creates uplifts motion, an aerodynamics
orientation that reduces air friction for the bird that follow. By flying in V-shape
formation, the whole flock achieves a 70% greater flying range than if each bird flew
alone.
Romans 12:5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually
members one of another.
People who connect to each other & share the same goals achieve more. All team
members must be connected to God and to each other because connecting with each
other ignites faith, connecting to God increases our faith? An posporo na way ana
maglaga maka-ignite pa nan iban? Thus, each member is still on fire to ignite fire
among others. Each member must be connected to God and must have increasing
Faith. How to connect to God?
Romans 10:17 Faith comes from hearing and by hearing though the word of
God.
No person can say he is faithful if he does not read the word of God. Uno man na
promises and warning an ija taghawiran para maka-claim sija jaoi ija salig sa Ginoo.
As human being, we are rational and critical thinkers, dili kita musalig sa isa katawo
kun waya ta makakilaya dija, we even teach our kids not to talk to strangers or even
accepts gift from someone they don’t know. This is just the same with God, we cannot
say we follow him if we don’t have limited knowledge of Him. Because if we only have
limited knowledge about God, during the time of troubles we easily give up ky wai ato
taghawiran na promises nan Ginoo.
Then what will happen if someone in the group lost track from the formation? The
aerodynamics will change. The outside forces will pull them, and eventually mawaya
na sija sa groupu. But let us be like the Geese, if someone is weak, he will go at the
back of the back of the formation accompanied by 2 other geese because the
members at the back will exert little effort to fly until such time, he will gain its strength
and go back as forerunner of the pack.
3. LEAD (Hebrews 12:1 let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us)
Just like the Geese, everyone is empowered to lead. If the leader in front gets
tired the other goose will take over until he gained back his strength and return in the
lead position. We can only lead if we know our directions, if we know our vision and
mission as a JIL church, that is to bring all people to the kingdom of the living God
regardless of race, sex, religious affiliations…
Therefore, we need to connect to the church in order receive directions. Ky
waya mai ato pasingdan kun wayay ato na receive nadawat na commands or kun
waya ta kahibayo nan ato goals. Usahay mafocus ra ta sa outing2.
As leaders we must be:
- Understanding & Compassionate;
We must be compassionate because the God we are serving and the God
we are representing is understanding & compassionate. If jaoy someone sa
ato group na nagkamali, dili nato econdem, instead ato sija e-correct in a
compassionate manner.
Kay kun ato sila pasagdan, again nalimtan nato an pinakapurpose na jaon
ta sa isa ka church, that we will finish this race together. Let us remember
that Jesus came for the Last, the Least, and the Lost. Dili nato pasagdan na
Lost ra sila until the second coming.
- Courageous; and
As leaders we must be courageous. The Lord said to Joshua in Joshua 1:6
“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to
inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”
Just like the Geese, the one who is leading is very courageous, ky kun dili,
dili sila maka-abot sa ila destination.
The Lord added in verse 9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go.”
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous
right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
We have moments na madiscourage ta, pero let us always remember an
pirmi ilaong ni Pastor sa ato that “it is by accident na jaon ta sa church, dili
accident na jaon ta sa Cantilan. It is our holy assignment an pagdaya nan
Cantilan into to the Kingdom of the living God.
- Goal Oriented
As leaders, we must also be Goal oriented. Laong pa sa common language
ato madunggan na an tawo na wayay goal is kuwang-goal. The same is true
sa leaders, we cannot lead if we do not have set of goals. Haman nato dad-
a an ato mga kaibanan?
“He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will
they not both fall into a pit?””
Luke 6:39
Closing:
Let us consider this race as a team event, just like in a relay, not all team
members are of the same speed. In order to win of course we need to have teamwork,
we need to know who is the fastest and who is the weakest in order to take advantage of
our strengths and support our weaknesses.
In athletics, sa ako nahibay-an sa mga runners, they need to finish their race
bahala ulihi ky amoi jaon balaod nan ila coach. To marathoners, mahadlok sila na dili sila
makatapos nan ila race ky matatakan an ila credentials nan NDF (Did not finished)
because inishit will disqualify them in the next race.
