Corrections or comments made relative to submittals during this review do not relieve the contractor from compliance with the contract requirements and specifications. This review is only for
general conformance with the design concept of the project and general compliance with the information given in the contract document.
It is assumed that Coremetal will do full scope of works in Specification 05 12 00 (noti scope matrix, which does not clarify under who
Design/Calculations will be and misses items such as walkway). Note this pre-qualification document does not include laboratories nor design
sub-consultants, which should be submitted separately. Compliance with section 1.8 and 1.9 of the Specification to be demonstrated via
separate submittals. Trade license for Emirate of Abu Dhabi to be provided. Technical approval subject to subcontractor confirming works can
be done within Batco's programme constraints.

Hydrostatic testing
Hydrostatic testing has long been used to determine and verify pipeline integrity. When a pipeline is designed
to operate at a certain Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP), it must be tested to ensure that it is structurally
sound and can withstand the internal pressure before being put into service. Generally, gas pipelines are

than maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) and holding the pressure for a period of four to eight hours.

Hydrotesting of pipes, pipelines and vessels is performed to expose defective materials that have missed

Buried high pressure oil and gas pipelines are tested for strength by pressurizing them to at least 125% of
their Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) at any point along their length. Since many long distance

(SMYS) at Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure(MAOP), this means that the steel is stressed to SMYS and
above during the testing, and test sections must be selected to ensure that excessive plastic deformation does
not occur.

Test pressures for all sizes of API 5L seamless pipe and for API 5L welded pipe in sizes 18 and smaller, shall be
held for not less than 5 seconds. Test pressures for welded pipe in sizes 20 and larger shall be held for not less
than 10 seconds. For threaded- and-coupled pipe, the test shall be applied with the couplings made up power-tight

in the plain-end condition. For threaded pipe furnished with couplings made up handling-tight, the hydro- static test
shall be made on the pipe in the plain-end or threads-only condition or with couplings applied, unless otherwise
agreed by the purchaser and the manufacturer.
Advantages of SSAW Pipes
SSAW steel pipe can be produced in longer length (maximum length up to 50 meters) compared to LSAW
steel pipes.
Due to its spiral seam SSAW pipe has an accurate diameter accuracy and strength
The sizes are adjustable & can be tailored to end-user requirements.

Standard
SSAW steel pipe is made up of hot-rolled coiled steel using a double-sided submerged arc welding method. The
welding process allows steel pipe manufacturers to produce large-diameter steel pipes suitable for different
applications.
