Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

In order for me to take any education courses at UNLV which is where I plan on

transferring to from CSN I must pass the Praxis Core Exam portions for reading, writing

and math. I must also pass the Praxis in order to continue on to get my Bachelor’s degree

in Education. For the Math portion of the Praxis Core Exam the passing score is 5733.

For the Reading portion of the Praxis Core Exam the passing score is 5713. And for the

Writing portion of the Praxis Core Exam the passing score is 5723.

Exam Preparation

In order to prepare to take the Praxis Practice exams I viewed a video on breaking

down the praxis and then viewed some study strategies to help me pass the Praxis and

understand how to go about taking the test. I then studied for the Math exam and tried the

practice questions from the ETS. I then Reviewed some strategies for the math portion of

the Praxis exam that would help me. Then I did the Khan Academy Praxis Prep course

for math. Then I took the practice exam for the Praxis. For reading I did the same thing I

studied and tried some ETS practice questions for reading. Then I reviewed some testing

strategies for the reading portion of the exam. Afterwards I did the Khan Academy Praxis

Prep course for reading. For writing I viewed some testing strategies that would help me

with the writing portion of the exam. Then I tried some ETS practice problems for the

writing portion of the Praxis Exam. Afterwards I viewed the Khan Academy Prep course

for writing. That was how I prepared to take the Praxis practice exams.
Exam Results

For my reading practice exam, I received a 41 out of 56 which is a 73.2%. This

score means that I am likely to pass the reading portion of the official Praxis Core Exam.

For my writing practice exam, I received a 25 out of 40 which is a 62.5%. This means I

am not likely to pass the writing portion of the official Praxis Core Exam. For my math

practice exam, I received a 21 out of 56 which is a 37.5%. This means that I am highly

unlikely to pass the math portion of the official Praxis Core Exam.

Future Exam Preparation

In order to pass the Praxis Core Exam for reading, writing and math based off my

practice exam scores I must study more. I should study more fore the reading and writing

portion of the Praxis Exam. I will try to do more Praxis Core Review courses at CSN so

that I can gain more practice at taking the exams. I will also review the Khan Academy

Praxis Prep again and review my notes in order to study. I will also try to do more

practice questions for the reading and writing section of the Praxis Exam. I will also

review the math portion again to try and better my math score as well. I may try and look

for more prep courses like the ones at CSN and attend those to have someone with me so

I can ask for assistance when I get stuck while studying. Investing in a study book would

also be beneficial to me and would help me in preparing to take the test. I can also look

up some more test taking strategies to help me prepare for being in the actual test taking

environment when taking the test. These strategies will also be beneficial in finding the

best strategies to help me when taking the reading writing and math portion of the Praxis

Core Exam.
