Obiena jumps gold, sets new record in SEA Games pole vault

EJ Obiena snatched the gold medal after setting a record in the men’s pole vault final in the 30 th
Southeast Asian Games.

Obiena cleared the 5.45m mark that placed him on the top in the competition which gave another
history to the Asean games and the Philippines.

Sea Games previous record was 5.35m.

On the game, Obiena unable to clear the 5.55 mark.

“It feels great to perform in front of my kababayan. It fired me up to hear the support. This is definitely a
memorable win for me and for the country.” - EJ Obiena

The title gave pride and honor to the Philippines which bring the country into the pedestal.

Thailand and Malaysia took the second and third spot with 5.20m and 5.00m.

The Asean Game Pole Vaulter Champion planned to continue his goal in the Olympic era.
